Nassau County, New York, District Attorney Kathleen Rice has announced 104 arrests after a sting operation in April and May

defense lawyer Elliot S. Schlissel said that that Rice' decided to publicly shame the men who are still legally innocent.
'These people could lose their jobs or marriages or have other problems and never be convicted of anything,' he said.

Damn, these "flush the John" operations are terrible... It's a terrible attack to the human rights...

What could have lead to such an inacceptable result in a democraty ? The prudish society ? The religion ? The feminism ?

All the reality cop shows I have seen on TV all treat the perps the same way, the push them to the ground, step on their necks and put a gun in their face.

Read the comments at the end of the article...same old same old...people want to about undrage prostitutes and human trafficking. This has been weaved into the conventional wisdom. When the subject of protitution comes up in casula conversation (I never bring it up), people I work with or see socially believe that the majority of prostitutes are underaged and trafficked. So politicians start these LE stings in places like Atlanta and Dallas to catch patrons of underaged and trafficked prostitutes. They catch neither.

Atlanta is even running a TV add about Johns who use the services of underaged girls. They have a bunch of tough guys saying "We don't believe you [didn't know]"

The street scene is dead and BackPage is like playing Russian Roulette.

P.S. - I just listened to the author of the book "Freakanomics" talk. At one point he talked about interviewing prostitutes. He started by making notes of girls on the street. However, an escort contacted him with her book of stats that she was keeping. The prostitute he mentioned was a 300$ hour college degreed computer programmer. She made 80,000 as a programmer and now makes 300,000$USD as a 300$/hour escort. He said he asked her how she feels when her phone rings and she shrugged her shoulders and made a face and siad that she doesnt always answer it. He told her to raise her price to 400$/hour. She did this and maintained the same number of appointments per week.

I read the first book. I am hoping that in the next book he talks more about prostitution. I would like to see him take on some of the myths that are accepted as fact by civillians.

There are risks in hobbying anywhere, but those who know the NYC scene well know that there are a few places that have been around for a while, operate very discreetly and have never been busted. I speak of Spellbound Massage, the numerous high end indies who began there and Candlelight Salon, to name just 2 such places. Spellbound I have been to about 40 times at both of their locations over the past 5 years. They operate very discreetly and under the radar, although the landlord of the building they are operating out of is also leasing to other discreet adult entertainment within the same building, including a gay MP. It's a good location because it is mixed commercial and residential but the storefronts on those blocks where they are located are mostly commercial. You aren't going to draw NIMBY complaints in such locations.

Earlier this year there was a string of incall hotel busts in Paramus, NJ and they published photos of the busted SPs. From what I heard, some indiscreet behavior led to the busts. If you are operating an incall at a hotel you can't have marijuana smoke wafting all over the floor or make a ton of noise or have guys coming in and out of your room at all hours. Or you have to switch rooms every day.

The key thing being overlooked in this thread is the word DISCRETION. The busts that are highly publicized come about because of incredible stupidity and indiscreet behavior that leads to complaints. The places that are operated intelligently like SB and CS don't get busted. And SB has had the same 2 locations for the past 5 years, 2 apartments at 1, and 1 apartment at the other. You guys are totally focused on all of the wrong things and if you pay attention to who is operating in a way so as to not get busted, and who is getting busted, you will see very distinct patterns as to who gets busted and why they get busted. It is all survival of the fittest. The smart people make money and the dummies get busted, for the most part. And that is how it should be.

There is an MP in Bridgeport CT and they have never been busted while every other MP in Bridgeport has gotten busted. The reason why that MP was never busted is that the owner is a smart man who quickly recognized the value of making donations to police charities. When you make such donations and you advertise that you are a donor, the police leave you the fuck alone. It is that simple.

Street walkers and those who patronize them play the game on a whole different ballfield. It is like comparing apples and oranges. They are easy prey for LE undercover and it is not even worth starting a thread about. Even one of the UConn assistant basketball coaches, who was the best big man coach they ever had, got busted for offering undercover female LE $10 for a blow job. This was just dumb behavior and although I hated to see the guy lose his job because he was a great fucking coach, he was stupid.

NYC is a different world than New Jersey, Long Island, West Chester Co. and Connecticut.

I read about 3 years ago that Bloomberg disbanded much of the Vice Squad and let local precincts investigate prostitution complaints. In the beginning of Bloomberg's first term, he was very aggressive towards prostitution, calling it a quality of life crime. NYC Police Commissioner Ray Kelley has been quoted as saying he would be aggressive towards prostitution. But it has taken a lower priority. There have been prostitution investigations. The latest was the suburban mother madam. She was charging big bucks and had some high profile spenders. The New York Police department has had budget cuts and a good deal of their resources goes to terror prevention, as well as other crimes that happen in big cities.

Long Island, West Chester Co., and New Jersey are made up of small towns. These municipalities along with the Counties see prostitution as higher priority because they have less higher priority crimes to deal with, and more time on their hands.

I have serious doubts about escorts stating 300,000$/year revenues, especially with a base price of 300$/ hour. The math just don't work. She can't work 50 weeks a year, 6 days every week and also have to manage all the meetings (cause there is no way she gets that working for an agency). I heard the interview a while ago on a radio cast about quitting in all walks of life. But it is true that the opportunity cost in this trade is particular, making it very difficult to quit.

No. From a $300 an hour rate, she can make $300,000 by providing 20 hours a week 50 weeks out of the year. Do the math:

$300 x 20 = $6,000

$6,000 x 50 = $300,000.

20 hours per week is an average of 4 hours of appointments per a 5 day week. Of course, if she is not on the pill, she would have to take off during her period week, but she could make up for that in other weeks by working 27 hours 3 weeks and not working 1 week.

The $300,000 figure is doable.

It should be kept in mind that in NYC, $300 is market price or below. Most escorts charge more than that if they are doing serious repeat business in the NYC market so I question her intelligence if she was doing that many bookings and not increasing her price. Does not make any sense. In demand escorts in NYC usually charge at least $400 per hour and there are escorts charging $600/hour who have dozens of pages of reviews on TER. This is a matter of record on the Internet if anyone bothers to check it. Usually the HDH threshold starts at $500 per hour. The serious HDH indies who worked at Spellbound Massage and developed cult followings, like Tatianna, Daniella, Lindsay and Victoria, all charged in the $600-$800 per hour range after going indy. These ladies at one time simultaneously worked indy as escorts and at Spellbound as MPs offering extras.

If you guys throw out this kind of information out you have to compare it to the actual facts of the market and then evaluate the credibility of what is being said.

You pretty much need to make 6 figures to pay rent anywhere in NYC. The cost of living is high and therefore the cost of sex is high. Look at the BFT accepted hotel bids in NYC. You will not get a decent hotel in Manhattan for less than $200 bidding on Priceline during the summer.

The outer boroughs are less expensive than Manhattan, but you are right NYC is an expensive place to live.

I forgot that the author said she up-charges for CIMWS and for trips to the Greek Isles. LOL!

I checked my notes and I wrote down the figures. Yep, that is what he said. That is 2.74 visits per day. She would have to hustle.

I don't know Beave this could have been a few years back. He said when she told him that she charges 300$/hour he asked how she set her price? She shrugged and said thats the going rate. When the escort said she was not always motivated to pick up the phone that is when the author suggested she raise her rate to 400$/hour.

The author did say that he invited the escort to speak at a conference and he would pay her her hourly rate. He said she was very intelligent and articulate and one of the best speakers that they had ever had. He was shocked when she gave hime her bill and she charged him 400$/hour. she smiled and said "I took your advice. I charge 400$/hour now."

Just think of how many lives these politicians and cops have to destroy to get ahead and promoted in life.

And think what they did when Elliot Spitzer was caught red handed in an FBI investigation. The State of NY, nor the city of NY DA did not even do an investigation. I am wondering if any guy caught in NYC can put on a selective prosecution defense because they did not investigate Spitzer, even though there was ample evidence to convict him.
