TER - Anyone ever become a paying member of this service? I feel like I can ask this question in this forum because I don't really believe they compete with MERB.

I am about to give them my CC# so I can research girls in the USA. I have gained free access by submitting reviews before but I have never given them my CC#. I think the subscription is pricy at 20 Euros/Month. They have an automatic rebilling feature. I am worried that once I sign up I will have a difficult time canceling the service and I will end up being charged for services I no longer wish to have.

Anyone have luck with paying for TER and being bale to cancel at a later date?

yes, i have subscribed as a paying customer and then cancelled my subscription on a couple of occasions. they make it a little difficult to figure out how to cancel the rebilling but once you do, there are no problems with being inappropriately charged.

Do you remember the verbage used on your statements. For example, ISG is billed as some charitable organization.

I tried submitting reviews and get free access, but whatever I posted, the person in charge wanted more detail and verbage, etc. Bottomline, I got the impression that they would give me more trouble trying to get free access to get me to buy the subscription. That was my experience.

Thanks!!! As long as it doesn't say "entertainment" or worse doesn't actually reference the TER itself!

I have had reivews rejected before. Typically, I resubmitted them with a few minor modification and they posted. I believe they thought I was givinng out too much info to the non-VIPs. Once however, they refused to post my review after I resubmitted it several times. It was a review of Liz of XXXtase. It is still in my review section as submitted. After this experience I said fuck it for about a year. A year later, I submitted a few more without incident. I think it depends which moderator you get to approve your review. The luck of the draw.

My problem is that they charge so much. If you hobby in Montreal or abroad TER is a waste of time but if you hobby in the USA TER can save you from a "bum stear" as well asprevent you from getting arrested.

I love the format. I just wonder if their busines model is flawed. I wonder if they cut their price in half could they inrease their paid membership 4-5x?

I originally thought of answering in this thread regarding cancellations and charge cards. Frankly, I feel the TER does compete with this board in the purest sense. It has reviews and posting boards. It also has a public & private access. The only things separating the two are: 1) method of financing with MERB advertiser driven and TER client paid 2) TER covers most of the US & Canada while MERB usually covers just Quebec.

There's a real difference in the methods of information distribution, TER's requiring more moderation and organization while MERB's less so. This estimation is based upon the writer's experience as a moderator and his experience in being a client & contributor of TER. This is not lessening the contribution of the moderators here, but the knowledge that TER keeps multiple people employed in their data input and review sections.

TER was infiltrated by a local LE once. I read this on another board. They set up fake girls, giving her fake reviews and waited for a few guys to call and set them up for a sting. I don't think this could happen too much or is worth LE's effort. They would get much more response from backpage.

MERB covers Quebec. In fact MERB's coverage is so superior and so much better than TER and ISG that I have never shopped for Quebec escorts using anything but MERB. TER and ISG and Eros are such minor players in the Montreal/Quebec scene that in my opinion they practically do not compete.

Scary stuff. Where and when did this happen?

I've not used TER in several years, so it would be impossible to comment on percentages and minor vs. major contributions. Obviously, by their silence on the matter, we can assume that's the correct viewpoint of the Moderators & Management. Your point seems correct in that MERB has info on the German Fkk Scene, yet couldn't be considerred a competitor in that market.

Here's the article. The link does not have the original article. But the next 2 links do.

http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/l...lice-take-over-escort-websites-106914898.html

The link to the above article is missing. The location was Montgomery County, Maryland. It mentioned a sting using TER. It was about 1 year ago.

Here's another article. It mentions backpage and EROS, but not TER.

This link mentions TER:

For what it is worth, if I remember correctly, the TER posters on the Washington DC board said that LE did not actually do what they claimed to the press to have done. The posters said that law enforcement was just tooting their own horn to scare people and reduce demand. I never see anyone in the DC area, so I didn't follow it that closely.

The County where this supposedly happened was in Montgomery Co., Maryland, which is just North of Washington, DC. It would not have affected Washington, DC, which has its own police. Because there are so many politicians and government officials in DC, I doubt they ever run stings. It is probably the most safe place to see an escort ironically.

There have been many stings on backpage run by many local police forces around the US. They don't run stings frequently, but when they do, they publicize them afterwards to scare people, as you said.
