Didn't we just go through this a couple of months ago? Everyone bitched and complained and then they moved on. Some things never worked properly like the last post function and everyone couldn't stop posting about that one. Now it works and everyone is trying to find new shit to bitch about. What colours are people talking about? The only colour on the old board was green, it's not like there were rainbow effects or something. And I just noticed while writing this reply that the font colours work again where they didn't in the last version. So thata's two things that've been fixed with this version and I haven't found anything that is broked. So what's the problem?

The only thing I don't like so far are the new smilies and that there aren't any new ones. HINT! :D

Everybody hates change and this seems like a big change to people. Give it a week and ask the same question and I bet people will love the new Merb.

That may be true...

And at least, now, when I click on the little arrow to go to the last post, it works!! :D

Techman, don't forget that constructive criticism and bitching are two different things. ;)

True, but I haven't seen any constructive criticism in this poll question. But what else would you expect from benson? The guy only comes here to complain about one thing or another anyways. I don't even know why he started this poll, it's not like he really cares about what happens here unless he can find something to run over to the other board and post about. At least he can't say that MERB is really older that it claims.

Hello johnmbot,

If you wish, I can restore the other thread. There are a number of posts that might be useful and it will avoid people having to post them again.

The new theme is easier on the eye. I like the new icons. This version also works better on touch screen mobile devices thanks to the larger font. It is also a good idea to have the search box in display (this will hopefully motivate more members to use the search function before starting useless threads). One tidbit, I think that the header section and the menu bar need improvement. I am not sure about the mixing of dark green and gray. Ads banners overlap with the welcome message. Also, the upper menu bar (Chat room, Forum...) does not render well (at least on my computer), besides I don't see the point of having 2 menubars. A minor thing, the member status icons look too small compared to the old version and we can hardly tell if a member is online or offline by just looking at that icon.

Hello benson,

Could you please elaborate on what features are missing?

The ones that irks me most are:

1. That when you list the new posts, it does not give the date and time of the posts on the main screen.

2. Because the type is bigger, it lists less posts per page.

It is also a little early to start a poll on the new software considering it has been installed for less that a day. Perhaps the membership should take some time to explore and discover how things work before criticizing things. Any bug reports are welcome to be posted in the proper thread.

You'll have to make the call on that one.

All I can tell you is that the changes do not yet have unanimous support....

Hello Benson,

1. When you list the new posts, by clicking on "New Posts" or "What's New", the date and time as well as the most recent poster are listed in the right hand column just as they always have been.

2. If you go into your User CP, you can change the Forum settings to display up to 40 posts per page, this is also the same as before.

As for changes receiving unanimous support, I do not believe that any changes will ever reach that level as some people are simply resistant to change.

The ones that irks me most are:

1. That when you list the new posts, it does not give the date and time of the posts on the main screen.

At this point, I can't say I don't like it. I'll get used to it, no problems. Mod 8 is right, things do the same as before, only the interface has changed.

I love the large "reply" window we now get instead of the small one before. It makes text formatting way easier.

I did find one thing not working: When clicking on a member's name in a message (left side), the menu that open is now different. Before, we were able to right-click on the items in that menu to open them in a new window. Not, that functionality doesn't work. That functionality was great to send quick PM or a quick search, without loosing the thread.

Besides this, no problems for me. It's still way better than many other I've used.

M11, that works fine for me in IE8, when I right click on a menu option I can open it in a new tab or window. It also works in Firefox but when I right click on the item, the menu vanishes but I still have the choice to open in a new tab.

Did i mention that the new smilies are really boring? They look like the smilies in Live Messenger.

I like the refreshing look too.

Although, the set up is ackward compare to previous green. The previous green was more practical and easy to look for informations, like day of posting to name one. We were able to see when it was previously written, and when it was replied (i might confused things here, but I have the feeling that this was present).

One thing for sure is that when you're using the search engine, it was previously more user friendly to the type of reviews you were looking for. If I was looking for a review of a certain lady in montreal that did outcalls, I only had to refer to last column for quick reference, and voilà. But now, I have to search thoroughly which in my sense is a waste of time. Pain in the butt for me, and certainly others too. Would it be possible to set it as previously?

Thanks,

McFly

Overall I don't like the new aesthetic but the new smilies are seriously ugly! I guess there must be a reason we've switched though.

For me it's not the features themselves, but mostly the look, the disposition, the ease-of-read which I find has gone way down. The icons/ smiles are ugly too.
It's a visual thing...

I didn't like it yesterday, but like it today after getting used to it & seeing some of the positives. The negatives for me would be i find the white background a bit annoying, and the fact i have to log-in everytime i visit the site. Other than that, it's all fine.

Doc...If you`re accessing the site from a "favorite" or Firefox toolbar button click on the properties of the favorite and change it to this https://merb.cc/vbulletin//index.php . There`s an extra "/" in the new url. That seems to have solved my logging in every time problem.

I have a question. On the main VBulletin page, why are some of the envelopes red-shaded, and some of them green-shaded, and some of them gray-shaded? If I try to hover over them, they just appear blank! Do the envelope colors actually signify anything? Thanks....
