With the newly announced changes, a prepaid simple choice plan is eligible for the free canada / mexico roaming. But if you are primarily roaming on non-usa carriers, i think you would get kicked-off the plan.

The 'simple choice plans' are not prepaid plans, as can be seen in this link.

You do have to pay per minute for phone calls but data and texts are all included in your plan. Its also not limited to Canada or Mexico, Germany and Thailand are also included (along with tons of other countries). I was told by Tmobile that if you call over wifi in another country, that call won't cost you anything. Im betting though if someone calls you and leaves a message on your voicemail, you'll get dinged for the call.

The press release I linked to above says "Everyone’s eligible, including Simple Choice postpaid and prepaid customers." It is a little confusing, because the prepaid plans are called "Simply Prepaid" (not "Simple Choice") But I have to think the "Simply Prepaid" plans are what they mean.

You are correct that Canada/Mexico calls will count against your normal minutes, but with no additional charges.

I had att years ago and it worked everywhere, then went to their prepaid plan and found out it wouldn't work overseas. Have to assume until I'm told otherwise it's the same scam with T-Mobile’s plan.
