I always wondered...

Who is the poster that has been suspended the most times on MERB ?

I have been here for 8 years..with no infractions

I suppose that the winner must be some agency ( or perhaps I am totally wrong ) ?

Can anyone recall ??

Maybe the mods will give us the answer

Voila !!

I think I was one of the first members to get permamantly banned on MERB in 2003. At that time I thought I was just speaking my mind about an SP who had a very snobbish attitude, though I admit that I went a bit far. The SP retired since then. After many years, you learn to identify the lines that should not be crossed. On occasions you get very close to those lines without ever crossing them. I have been banned twice under my current handle and I am not proud of it.

Hmmm,

What counts most?

1. Is it the number of times? I think I know who. (one member maybe 11 times).

2. Is it the length of time? I think I know this too. (another member maybe 4-6 or more months).

3. Do obsessed trolls who keep breaking in after a permanent ban count? We all know who.

When I read the reasons for bans I almost always agree. But when you get banned for defending someone then the mods have lost their mind.

ElfGoneBad original aka tony...

As I indicated, psychotically obsessed trolls don't count. Tony would break into his mother's/grandma's shower just because he doesn't belong there...then take pics of himself with them just to prove to everyone he did it.

number_of_bans * length_of_ban would be a fair metric when length_of_ban is not infinity. Otherwise, the post count as well as seniority might need to be factored in this equation as well.

Well don't forget GeneralGonad. He had a two or three year ban from this place. And before that he had numerous other bans with very long extended periods of time. Once he came back from his suspension he went back to his usual crusade whatever that is which I can't seem to figure out.

I think General Gonad was one of the more misunderstood posters in the history of MERB. I would say he was probably the #1 misunderstood poster of all time.

I recall having lunch with him and two other members many years ago at a low end Italian restaurant in downtown Montreal. When you got started on a conversation about sex, GG would describe his DATY exploits. When he did so he would get emotionally worked up, visibly, and his voice would rise. He was almost like an actor performing, telling us how he did DATY on some SP while she sat on his face. Before you know it, every single person in the restaurant was staring at our table. GG realized this very suddenly and stopped, but it was one of the funnier moment I can remember on my Montreal trips.

LOL. You are a brave soul there EB.

I wonder what happened to the General. He just suddenly stopped dead cold and never came back. Hope he is doing well or at least his wife took him back.

He had some health issues, although they were not life threatening as far as I know. I also hope he is doing well. I liked him and enjoyed his company, the 4 or 5 times I met him.

Well he is out of the boards and hopefully out of the hobby since this was not doing him any good. Hope that the pieces in his life have fall into place and he can move on.

I liked GeneralGonad as well and I dare to think that this was reciprocal. I don't know why people got all upset about GG at the time. I learned to put a grain of salt in GG's posts as I learned to put a grain of salt in EB's posts. These members are entertaining and smart and I like them.

Now since we know about the members I always wonder the SPs who are not welcome in here. Especially the paying ones who advertise since they help fund this board. MERB rejecting a paying advertising SP is like a financial advisor/stock broker not wanting your money.

If you want my opinion on General Gonad as far as the man vs. the poster - and I hope I do not sound judgmental on this, but I think GG the person saw himself as an outsider looking in at the MERB community and never desired any acceptance by this community. And I totally respect that. In person he behaved as a guy among guys, just a regular guy and hobbyist like the rest of us. I think he grappled with his hobbying on some levels, whereas many of the rest of us on MERB have become totally comfortable with it. I don't begrudge GG for any of these things. Everyone has their own issues. As I said, I feel he was the #1 misunderstood poster in MERB history, and I think these were the reasons why.

Everyone is welcome as long as they follow MERB rules. Break the rules and you will be suspended or permanently banned, depending on the offense. The same rules apply to everyone, members and advertisers alike.

As has been stated repeatedly, moderators have no financial stake in MERB in any way so whether someone is a paying member or advertiser or just a regular member, it makes no difference to us. Break the rules and suffer the consequences.

Now since we know about the members I always wonder the SPs who are not welcome in here. Especially the paying ones who advertise since they help fund this board. MERB rejecting a paying advertising SP is like a financial advisor/stock broker not wanting your money.

Numerati,

I am a supporting member and I have been suspended about 4 times. Each time was probably warranted, although on one occasion I complained about the length of the sentence I was handed, and I think it was reduced by the Mods based on humane/compassionate grounds. Punishments have to be tailored to fit the crime.
