There's also Taylor Momsen, 16, from some show called Gossip Girl who seems to be doing her best to make sure that the world will never be without a Courtney Love.

And people are so eager to tar and feather Polanski when girls like this are probably only too eager to jump in the bed of anyone who can help their career and just as eager to charge them with rape when things go wrong and their career goes into the toilet.

Do we really need another Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan? How many train wrecks will it take before parents start taking some responsibility for their 'talented' kids instead of turning them into meal tickets? It's not them turning 18 that I can't wait for, I can't wait for them to disappear from the airwaves and go back into the trailer they came from. I'm constantly amazed at what passes for talent these days.

after one train wrecks, a clean-up crew removes the mess to make way for the next one.

shame on you, techman, for expecting talent to exist alongside popularity... oh for shame.

What passes for talent nowadays also amazes me, i just can't seem to get all Gaga over all this new age talent:) Give me the eagles, Elton John, John Lennon, Heart and the likes of Pat Benatar any day of the week. Imagine if you will people who actually had talent and could sing.

I have to agree with you in regards to today's music. Although there are a few exceptions, today's favorite pop/rock stars have no talent compared to what i used to listen to back in the 70s & 80s. I consider Guns n' Roses to be the last great rock band to come out. I can't stand Nickleback!

Okay, back to the topic. Mylie Cyrus....can't stand her & she doesn't do (never will) anything for me. She's too Billy Ray-ish, you could say. Too much teeth on her also. Don't know who that Taylor girl is. As for 20-year old Kristen Stewart, i don't get it other than she was in an extremely popular movie series. I don't find her attractive at all. I'm more into the Jessica Biel/Sienna Miller types. I do find Avril Lavigne both very attractive & i do enjoy some of her songs. And a bonus, she does know how to play real musical instruments! Taylor Swift.......don't find her atttractive either & she can't sing unless she's in a recording studio. If that's good singing, i missed my calling & could have been the next Andrea Bocceli.

You are probably right, what was i thinking. The eagles have no talent just a bunch of lip syncing phonies who used a bunch of phoney sounds in the studio to help there recordings and further more had to put on a freak show on stage to distract there fans from the fact that they had no talent. You can't make this stuff up, you really can't:)

Not an Eagles fan either. I've always found them to be over-rated and Hotel California is on my list of the most boring songs of all time as well as the most overplayed.

Doc, Taylor Swift is a country singer and it's not required that country singers be great vocalists. At least they don't use auto-tuners and vocoders like the so called pop stars of today. I'll take one Taylor Swift over ten Ke$has or Rhiannas or Jessica Simpsons any day.

Of the many, many, many hits that the eagles had hotel california was one of my least favorites also, but make no mistake about it they are one of the greatest bands of all time. A 100 years from now people will know who they were as there music will be timeless but many of the new acts in a 100 years time or make that 20 to 30 years you will never know they even existed.

I agree that the Eagles will be remembered as a great band, but they just aren't my style. I prefer Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Deep Purple, The Doors, and similar music with an edge to it over the soft country rock stylings of the Eagles.

And speaking of great rock bands, RIP Ronnie James Dio, one of rock's great vocalists who died yesterday after fighting a losing battle with stomach cancer.

Taylor Swift isn't even a GOOD vocalist. She can barely sing a note on her own!

p.s. Hotel California is my all-time favorite song. :D

Hello all,

Of the many, many, many hits that the eagles had hotel california was one of my least favorites also, but make no mistake about it they are one of the greatest bands of all time. Well Techman, I love those bands but my tastes are broader maybe. I like so much from Mozart to Metallica; Hard Rock, Funk, Techno, Motown, Oldies, Jazz, Classical, even some pre-90s Country...but definitely no Rap or Hip Hop. I was very fortunate to see the Eagles during their Hell Frezes Over tour in 1994 at Great Woods (now Comcast) in Mansfield, MA. Still have the T-shirt. People thought the minimum $60 tickets were outrageous back then and my seat was far back, but "son-of-a-bitch" what a great concert. They played Eagles songs and many top songs made by individual stars like Don Henley and Joe Walsh after the break up. Walsh was fantasic. Jeff, it was unbelievable to hear them all together and playing each other songs so well. I rank this one right up there with catching the Police in Foxboro right as their Synchronicity album was just coming out.

Cheers,

Merlot
