I suspect that depends a great deal in personalities, chemistry and commonality of interests. There's almost certainly no good one-size-fits-all answer for everyone.
It really depends on the chemistry. Even if someone told you Barbara is an excellent conversationalist, if you have no chemistry, it might be the longest and most boring conversation you’ll ever have

At the risk of being superficial, i never meet sp's for conversation, i am meeting them for play time, yes, in between rounds or toward the end of the meeting, we can have conversations, but it doesn't need to be sophisticated, or we don't need to debate, but yes it is normal to have social time a little bit, not a whole lot please, i don't pay for conversations, i pay for fun time, some healthy banther doesn't hurt... But when i found myself that i pay a huge chunk of change for conversation or social time, it is not a great investment, i feel cheated and short changed.
