I know there is a thread on the subject but I just want to discuss on the language issue rather the hockey. I just find it ridiculous.

Montreal's transit agency, the STM, is replacing the phrase "Go Habs! Go!" on bus displays with "Allez Habs! Allez!" following a directive from Quebec's Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) to remove Anglicisms. The decision has sparked debate among Quebec politicians, with some arguing that the phrase is culturally significant and does not threaten the French language.

Allez, Canadiens! C'est pas si mal non plus. On s'entend qu'on parle seulement de l'écriteau défilant sur les autobus de la ville.

Le chant restera "Go Habs Go" en personne au Centre Bell.

Mais on peut aussi chantonner cette version :


"Allez, allez, allez, allez Montréal!"

À la base, je trouve que cet organisme a sa raison d'être (OQLF). Mais ils sont capables d'actions totalement inutiles. Est-ce que c'est une question d'ego de la part de leurs dirigeants ? Je me pose sérieusement la question.

We are not hosting 2026 world cup games because fifa wanted exclusivity on events during a big window, threatening our festivals.

We also don’t have an appropriate stadium so I agree with the government to not push to host. Who wants to waste more money in the Olympic stadium?

Just to show how greedy fifa is, all stadiums will be temporarily renamed (metlife stadium becomes ny stadium for the duration of the tournament). They are not leaving any money on the table and people in toronto are already grumbling.
