Oilers are pretty much capped out. They had to give away Evander Kane today in order to clear up cap space to accommodate Leon Draisaitl’s big contract which will start kicking in next season. They also need cap space to re-sign defenceman Evan Bouchard who will be RFA next week & many believe he could be asking $9-10 million per season. Draisaitl contract will pay him $14 million per season which will make him the highest paid player in the NHL. His previous contract was paying him $8.5 million & was quite a bargain for the cap-constrained Oilers who will also be on the market to acquire an established quality goaltender which won’t come cheap!Wich team might be interested in ERICK KARLSSON et son salaire de 10 M ?????......JETS/OILERS??????
I dont see it as being a great idea, honestly, I already find 82 games is too many. If the season was shorter the intensity would rise quicker in the first 2 months.NHL Discusses Potential 84 Game Season:

Sources: 84-game NHL season part of CBA talks
An increase over the NHL's current 82-game schedule has been discussed internally by the league, and the topic is part of negotiations with the players' union for the new CBA, sources told ESPN.www.espn.com
I am in agreement with you. All of the professional sports seasons are too long. In basketball the travel schedules are very tough and the players often rest with back to back games. I really dislike this because games get visibly sacrificed in order to keep players rested or fresh, which shouldn't happen.I dont see it as being a great idea, honestly, I already find 82 games is too many. I don't care about NHL hockey unless a Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup.
Until then, it won't have my attention.
I'm not into conspiracy theories too much but one of them is that I do believe is Gary Bettman is pulling the strings to make sure American NHL teams always win the Stanley Cup.It could take some time. The probabilities are against that.
There are 7 teams from Canada on 32 teams total.
And there are 6 no-state tax teams in the league who each have a 50% chance of getting in the final two before the season even begins! And in many years 2 of these teams make it to the final 4! It’s not impossible but it’s quite a tall order for any Canadian team to win a Cup of they’re able to surmount the odds!It could take some time. The probabilities are against that.
