I bought some horror books recently.

I'm mostly a Stephen King fan.

What about you?

Just finished “Paying For It” by Chester Brown. I’ve mentioned it on “Random thoughts”

It’s worth a read, I think I’d probably by a copy if I wanted to come out to my family

I read voraciously and am currently reading the Alex Verus series. I have also recently been re-reading the Dortmunder series from Donald Westlake and some of the Carl Hiassen books, where both sets of books are hysterical.

(Bumping this thread to see if we can get this thread going again)

About to start reading:
  • The Tragedy of True Crime, by John J. Lennon. A book written by a a man who killed a man, now turned prison journalist. He interviewed four fellow prisoners who have killed, telling their life stories and what led them to where they are. A first-of-its-kind book. I am hoping for insights into rarely explored corners of society and of the mind, told from a unique perspective. 4.3/5 on Amazon.
For those who have been reading my posts, you know that I am studying psychology part-time. I have an excellent and very readable book on human sexuality to recommend:
  • The Evolution of Desire, by David M. Buss, Ph.D, a leading psychologist. If you really want to understand sexuality and "mating" (the author's favourite word), this is the book. You'll learn that much of what you have heard about this topic in recent years is inaccurate, the origins of jealousy in men and women (and why they differ), what men want, what women want, why these "wants" often clash, and that yes, there are some universal beauty standards (among many other things). All of this information scientifically backed by large cross-cultural studies. 4.7/5 on Amazon. A must-read for those interested in this topic.
Feel free to share what you are currently reading.

I have been reading the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz about an disavowed OCD government assassin and have been listening to the Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook series, which is absolutely the best audiobook performance/adaptation I've ever heard. Jeff Hayes is positively brilliant.

I have a largely complete collection of vintage Playboys, which I have been reading in sequence. I am now in 1970. Many "real time" articles about the first years of the Nixon administration, the Chicago 7 trial, and of course the Vietnam war. Replace names like Nixon, Tom Hayden, Abbie Hoffman, and Vietnam with Trump, Comey, Tish James, and Iran, and you'd think these articles were written 56 minutes ago, not 56 years
