    It does, but it does mean I like you. I'm not French, but perhaps one of our confreres can explain it in full. I first heard it many years ago in a song, the words to which are: Quelqu'un sans toi Non fini pas D'avoir de mal de toi i.e. someone without you has not finished liking you.

    Agreed. There are definite differences in pronunciation. Agreed again. One expression I have used that draws blank looks is, "J'ai mal de toi". They have not heard the expression before, and have no idea what it means.
