Makes no sense to me. Logically: J'ai manqué = I have missed, and therefore, Je t'ai manqué = I have missed you. As hydragoat explained, the figurative is the opposite of the literal. WHY ???

Agreed. There are definite differences in pronunciation. Agreed again. One expression I have used that draws blank looks is, "J'ai mal de toi". They have not heard the expression before, and have no idea what it means.
