It’s unfortunate but he’s doing the right thing. Every season he’s been dealing with injury after injury. It must be extremely demoralizing! I wish him well ! Now the question is: will the Saints go with theirn rookie QB who they just drafted or sign a veteran? That rookie QB wasn’t even considered as a top 3 QB on most teams’ list & this was considered to be a poor year for the QB class! If i’m the Saints i try to trade for Kirk Cousins or try to sign Aaron Rodgers!

I wonder how long teams will be on waiting to sign Isaiah Bond, he must have some serious allegations with his current case

Brock Purdy signs 5-yr $265 million contract with 49ers

$181 million is guaranteed & his average salary will be $53 million per season. Personally i think this is insane! Brock Purdy is not a $53 million per season QB! To be totally honest of he’d be out on the market i’m not even sure any team out there other than SF would want him as their starting QB! Anyways great on him to get himself such a big contract but geez! If he’s worth $53 million than what are Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow & Josh Allen worth?

Nothing against him, but the main reason why he was so successful was being in the 49ers system. Many QBs would have thrived with that O. Its easy to build a solid D and O where your key players are making all the cash.

But your rookie is on entry level deal.

Lets take a look at the Commanders for example, that is a special QB making chump change. Meanwhile the talent around him isnt fully there. IF Washington can build around him ASAP now while hes on that rookie deal.

Im convinced they can with a SB

There is no question that Purdy's skill set is tailor made for the SF system. He was also helped by having extremely good WRs over the past 3 years in Samuels and Aiyuk, and an all pro tight end, George Kittles, which enhanced his development.

This is why it is so important for a young QB without elite, top of the draft board talent to find the right system and coaches to work with. It can lead to positive and constructive development and nurturing. System fit in the NFL is very very important.

Totally agree, he has the fundamentals to be a steady QB.

But at times, you also need to humble yourself, remind yourself where you got drafted, and those special pieces around you that made you thrive.

With being paid that chunk, will you still have that D, O line, CMC around to take the pressure off you? That I’m not sure of

I agree with everything you & EB said. The 49ers offence was custom-built for a player like Purdy. So many weapons! But most importantly he had the perfect head coach to play for in Kyle Shanahan whom many consider an offensive-minded guru & a QB’s dream coach. I love Brock Purdy as a person. He seems like an absolute great guy & a very important reason why the Niners love him so much. However he is short (in QB standards) and has small hands. I’ve never been a fan of QB’s with small hands for various reasons including more difficulty holding onto the ball. As for his smaller stature it makes it more difficult to see open receivers since offensive linemen are now very tall. Purdy is efficient when the passing lanes are open for him but a lot of this has to do with the quality of the receivers he has. Deebo’s absence will hurt & McCaffery better not miss too many games or else it might mean big trouble. A great running game is key to Purdy’s success.

I agree to all this, for me he is the type of QB who won’t lose you games (bad turn overs, time mismanagement)

But at the same time, for me he is isn’t your typical QB who will drive you down the field for a game winning drive. Maybe it’s cause the 49ers were so good they never had to be put in that position in the first place.

That being said he does have 3 playoff winning drives

There are only a few QBs in the NFL who can do this consistently and we all know who they are: Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow. These guys all have track records of being able to do it and lift their teams up. Purdy doesn't have the talent of these guys, but he is a very low mistake ratio QB who makes good decisions and doesn't have dramatic turnovers. There is something to be said for good game-managers, however, they do not lift up their teams like the 4 guys I mentioned above.

Colts owner Jim Irsay suddenly passed away while taking a nap yesterday afternoon. He had made a post on X at noon just before going for his nap where he wished good look to the Indiana Pacers in their game last night vs the Knicks. Irsay was shockingly only 65 years old. I was under the impression that he was at least in his late 70’s, probably in his 80’s, He looked very old for his age!

In other news the infamous tush-push play regularly used by the Eagles & the Bills survived a ban by only 2 votes. Note that the Bills voted to ban it although using it regularly in short-yardage plays. The Bills had used the play to perfection all season long until they struggled with it in their AFC championship game vs KC.
