A Latvian model fell to her death from a Manchester apartment hotel after her ex-boyfriend told her family she was working as an escort, an inquest heard.

Laura Pahomova, 23, sent a final text message to her father before climbing over a balcony at the Light Boutique Aparthotel and falling.

Manchester Coroner's Court heard that her family had believed she was in England studying at university.

Coroner Nigel Meadows ruled that Miss Pahomova took her own life.

Miss Pahomova had embarked on an on-off relationship with Martin Riley, but later described him as a "stalker".

She had threatened suicide if her family found out what she was doing, but Mr Riley told police he had informed her loved ones in order to help her - evidence the court heard was "contradictory."

Mr Riley was initially arrested as a suspect after Miss Pahomova's death but no charges were brought due to "insufficient evidence".

However, the court heard he had been convicted of harassment before when in "completely similar circumstances" he met another escort, began a relationship, then contacted her family.

Its always sad to hear of someone death, but you can't put murder charge on a person because somebody suicided due to what he did. That would mean if some guy dump his GF and she kill herself because of it, it would be the same...

Persons you can trust are rare it seem, but you got to have the will to surpass that. I mean if she feared that much her family learn what she did, she should had never got in this line of work. I think one of the first scenario you got to understand before starting in this is your family and relative could discover it... you got to be prepared.

Sure it was a douchy move, but its not something to be arrest for...

I mean if she feared that much her family learn what she did, she should had never got in this line of work. I think one of the first scenario you got to understand before starting in this is your family and relative could discover it... you got to be prepared..

I hear what you are saying Mike but it's not that easy. If my family members found out that I went to see Escorts, as prepared as I think I would be, It would be devastating just because of the reaction I would get and that they would see me as a completely different person. In general people view this as bad and evil even though it's just having sex, no different then picking up someone at a bar and having a one night stand. In fact I find if you do your research you will get a better quality girl with an escort than with picking up somebody for a one nighter.

Dumping a girl and her killing herself is different than Revealing that she's an escort to her family, it's just like bullying. When you hear about these kids killing themselves because people are making fun of them and harassing them.

It's unfortunate that this guy can't get charged because he obviously gets pleasure in doing this since he's done this before and most likely will do it again.

I agree with JB here. Leaving a relationship and the lady killing herself is very different from exposing a secret that has all the potential to destroy every family relationship and be fatally humiliating. As for murder, not in the legal sense, but did he intend to help or destroy her? Having done this kind of thing before the record shows malicious intent. He also did nothing to "help" her out of being an escort while he was getting what he wanted. He sure intended to have vengeance once the relationship was over. With death resulting I think it's only the legal definition of murder that's missing. Exposing her to the family setup a situation like sending her into a room where he knew a devastating emotional bomb was definitely about to go off.

This all makes sense, but you are missing something critical and huge. It's one thing to be intellectually prepared to deal with things, yet it can be extremely different and difficult to deal with the emotional reality when you have to deal with your fears becoming a living fact you are confronting in the moment. No matter how much you consider what can happen or how much you rationalize your right to choose and what you think you can deal with considering how those you love and need will feel, no one can know for certain how the reality of living and dealing with such a situation will affect them and the feeling between all we care about. We as clients can look at a lady and say she has made an adult choice, we're just doing something together we agree to and there's no harm. But in reality very very few of us are letting this life get out there for all to see. We fear something about doing that regarding social position...job position...family position/relationships. It's all neat and clean between two people in a room but inside we know it's anything but so simple otherwise. Those complications beyond the room aren't just about outdated laws and morals either.

I think we all feel there's a lot more at stake in what matters to us than only worrying about what the LE would do or what strangers would think. Very few would be prepared enough to simply put the results behind them if the time came to face others with our hobby or escorting choices. A woman killed herself and a vengeful client/lover is on the run despite their adult choices.
