Surprised she made it to 27. Such a waste of a talented life.

I've always found it sad that so many very talented artists die so young due to drug or alcohol abuse. Hendrix, Morrison, Joplin, Heath Ledger, etc...the list is long. And while we lose such great talents we are stuck with such talentless luminaries as Justin Beiber, Ke$ha and Katie Perry who you have to be either drunk or stoned to handle listening to such garbage.

I'm not sad & i won't pretend that i am. I'm not even surprised to learn that she 'passed away'. When i read the other day that she had died, my only reaction to the news was: "Oh, Amy Winehouse is dead. Surprise, surprise." Honestly, from everything i've heard about her over the past few years, i kind of expected to hear the news of her premature death.

She died the way she lived: hard. Very, very hard. There are many people who die every day that i don't even know, but for some reason or another, some of them make me sad. A solider in Afghanistan, for example. It makes me sad whenever i hear about a solider dying since i still have no clue why we're even there in the first place. It makes me sad whenever i hear that civilians were killed by friendly fire or a bomb. It makes me sad when a 9-year girl gets killed by a mad gunman while she was attending a political rally.

It makes me sad when a 3-year girl disappears & it takes over a month for her mother to advise anyone of her disappearance, only to discover her body later in a swamp & that the mother is the #1 suspect in her death & then gets off scot-free when all the evidence pointed towards her. It makes me sad when a surgeon repeatedly stabs his two innocent children because he's having a tough time dealing with the fact his wife left him for someone else. It makes me sad when two young adults in the prime of their life get stabbed to death by a jealous ex-husband who feels he's above everyone else because he's a celebrity.

I could go on & on & on. However, sorry folks, i'm not shedding a single tear for Amy Winehouse's death. She chose to live in a way that eventually led her to her premature death. She could have made changes in her lifestyle to prevent this from happening, but did not. Therefore, it's hard for me to be sad about her death. Sorry.

However, such as the likes of Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain & Elvis, her death at such a young age will make her a legend....much, much bigger than she ever was or ever would have been.

Next on the list: Linday Lohan. Talk about a train wreck!!

I never listened to her honestly, i am more in the metal music style. But i am not surprise it happened, after her last performance that i briefly seen on yahoo, i kind of tough it would happen. I don't know how people can take so much stuff to led to them dying. I mean, i love to drink, but damn i would never drink to the point of killing myself, can't say about drug cause exept a few weed puff here and there, i don't do much drug. But well.... I don't understand really.

As for Kurt Cobain, maybe his death boosted the legend like you say, but he was an awesome singer and would he could have take care of his problems, Nirvana could have been a band for many years after 94. He would still had been very big.

Addiction is a very serious problem, some people win that fight and some lose, that doesn't mean she deserved to die. Nobody is perfect in life and anyone can succumb to addiction, unfortunately Amy Winehouse couldn't beat her problem, and I find it truly sad that an incredible talent like her passed away.

RIP, Amy. I wish you could have conquered your demons and addictions. You're voice was very beautiful in its own way.

Gosh, other than paparazzi and entertainment tonight I never paid attention to Winehouse. I never consciously listened to her music. Since her passing I have spent some time on Youtube and I found I really like her music. "I Cheated Myself - You know I'm No Good" is the theme song for "Diary of a Call Girl." I had no idea that that was Winehouse. I really love that song. I love when the horns kick in at the end. The “Rehab” song was supposed to be her greatest hit. This is really a catchy tune. I really like "Back to Black" as well. "Tears Dry n Their Own" is also very nice. I was also looking at videos in 2004 when she came onto the scene and she was very nice looking. Look at her in the "In My Bed" video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pwo5mblugs&feature=relmfu

Look at her in "Stronger Than Me"

I love the way she rolls her eyes. I would do her in a heartbeat!

How does someone at the height of their career with the resources they have at their disposal fall from grace so fast? This is really scary.

The 2 widely known facts about Amy Winehouse - she was an odd drug addict and alcoholic and she was also musically gifted.

However, she was also had bi-polar or manic depression disease. She told an interviewer: “I do drink a lot; I think it’s symptomatic of my depression; I’m a manic depressive” (the name that has largely replaced manic depression in the US), we nodded our heads. Lack of treatment is tragically common - currently affecting an estimated 3.3 million people in this country, many of them self-medicating with alcohol or drugs.

Having known a few of people with bi-polar, I can say it is a definitely challenge for people with the condition. People are able to maintain it. They need medication and therapy. People with bi-polar have a higher incidence of suicide than the rest of the population. It should not be an excuse for her self-abuse, but you have to acknowledge that she had a major challenge. She had talent. It is sad that her talent was wasted.

really well said daydreamer41. We all know someone close to us suffering from bipolar or addiction and it is no fucking joke. The greatest and strongest of characters have fallen apart because of these problems, Doc has absolutely no clue what he is talking about.
The guy he idolizes and named himself after, John Henry "Doc" Holliday, was an alcoholic:confused:
