anyone remember Cinema Le Beaver on Parc Avenue

I was reading Rhode Island guys post about moving to Montreal and I started reminiscing about living in this wonderful city back in the mid 1970's to the mid 1980's.

I remember the glory years of the Expos and $1 bleacher tickets, going to LaRonde in the summer, Habs games at the old Forum way up in the blues, the York theatre on the corner of Guy and Ste. Catherine, but I also remember the porno theatres. There was Le Beaver on Parc Avenue, Cinema Pussycat and Cinema Eve, with the two legs sticking up as the "v" in Eve.

Anyone else remember Montreal from around that time ?

Memories of the 70s

Best SP of the era was a French girl from France, name of Claudine Jobic...what a hottie!!! Had an apartment on Pine West near Parc (80 Pine West, I believe)....yummy!

I used to patronize the Guy Theatre beside the Guy Metro...now some sort of a dollar store...and not even a good dollar store, like Dollarama (which in the 70s was the rather unkempt Rossy 5 & 10 Stores)....

When Steerburger had TWO locations...east of Phillips Square on Ste-Catherine (now closed) and the one still operating on Ste-Catherine near Drummond...

Listening to the radio --- the great CKGM 98 with Ralph Lockwood in the mornings and Marc "Mais Oui" Denis in the afternoons (Marc's web-site at <http://www.marcdenis.com> brings back a lot of memories too)...when CJAD was a real radio station, with George Balcan in the mornings, and none of these grating infomercials and whining divas like Lori & Olga...

The 70s were great!

I was around (and I have some pictures somewhere) of the night the theatre on st laurent st catherine went up in flames, now and empty space betweem buildings, next to club soda.

Remembering things like:

"box table dances" when there was no contact, and the girls couldn't stay at your table or even hover because of the laws at the time.

$5 super dirty table dances at the Mo-li Bar in Laval...

The Moustache bar on Lambert Closse, with live bands (metal at the end).

Dress codes at clubs on Cresent.

Wanda Bar when it was just the downstairs.

SuperSexe before the expansion.

Montreal keeps evolving... the fun keeps getting more intense.

Beaver: There was pornos I think at the border drive in (Just inside Ontario, I think). There aren't very many drive ins left anywhere at this point...

There was a huge drive in on the West Island for many years, The Dollard drive in was on Brunswick across from the Arena, but the closest thing to porn they showed was Quest for Fire!
Now its not that long ago but who remembers CACTUS on sources, IMO it was one of the nicest strip joints in montreal untill it umm blew up.

The Beaukiri in the Colonial Hotel on Windsor Street just north of Notre Dame. Remember the Tudor stylye building with burning torches. Topless dancers in cages. Lots of them.
