went to 3 sessions, did not find it helpful personally speaking, actually noticed the therapy I went to have lots of red flags.

1: He just tried to randomly engage you in a conversaion, find some topics for the "next session" so he can bill you for it.

2: His office is "tiny" in an old building, indicating he doesn't have lots of clients.

3: Payments via e-transfer to his personal email, no machine-generated receipts, just his own PDF receipt, really not sure if it can go through insurance even my insurance has $1000 dollar yearly coverage, not sure his business is legit since it doesn't have machine-generated recepts?

4: Alway book clients after 5PM, mentioned he has other works, seems to indicate he is part-time, meaning not enough clients or worst case lost the license.

For 150$/ 50 mins, he was less helpful than a SP, spent the money on a SP, I might have a better time. Sure other therapies can be good, just the one I went to seem to have too many red flags.

You do need to have sessions with a few of them before hand or you can have a telephone call and see how you feel. Trust me you will know when talking to them on the phone. I refuse to go see a male psychologist, in the past my experience with them was not good, I felt like it was like he was unwilling to help and it felt like he was there just looking and laughing.
I went to see the ladies and they are amazing, very sympathetic, caring and actually listen to you and find solutions. Just keep in mind it may take like 3 or 4 sessions before there is actual some help being given, because she needs to get to know you, keep in mind if when you have a session and she doesen't give you like a little action plane on what she plans t do, just move on.

If you trust yourself then try self hypnosis. It worked for me..
The whole idea is to get you to come to terms with traumatic events in your past that have had a negative impact on your present personality.

It's controversial whether psychotherapy is more effective than no treatment whatever. Mark Vonnegut, a physician and incidentally the son of the author Kurt Vonnegut, wrote a couple of books about his own experience with mental illness. He believes that it is only effective if the subject's brain is "biochemically balanced". He said that he wasted years in therapy and his symptoms quickly disappeared with drug therapy.

The problem is the human mind is super complex and each session is expensive, if isn't for insurance, I believe few people would have the resource to go.

Yeah, psychotherapy is a soft "science", even on TV, most shows just questioning therapies(expensive and ineffective). I do firmly believe in modern neuroscience on how the brain works. antidepressants work, I am taking escitaloprám daily which helps with the mood swings.

You need to find the right therapist for you. May take a couple before you find.

Personality compatibility is important.

So is the the type of therapy they practice (is it Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), or...?)

3 sessions isn't going to magically make you feel better. It's a lot more complex than fixing a car lol

Neuroscience only offers hypothesis for the moment. Conflicting findings from studies mean there is no neuroscience consensus. They've learned a great deal about the brain but most of it is still unknown.

Well is he a true psychotherapist or someone offering therapy? Not the same.

Forget the therapist go see an SP way better way of getting screwed and much more enjoyable.
I personally don’t believe in psychotherapists at all. Much like a fortune teller, full of BS.

Patron,
If seeing an SP is like seeing a therapist then I am all for it, but I will stick with the SP.
Did not help Tony Soprano much lol. She did have a great ass and legs though.
