Hello there!

I am new to Merb since I worked in Toronto most of my humble career.

I am planning a rare visit to Montreal and was wondering how the scene evolved here. I moved to Toronto in 2019. Where is the best place to host for a first timer? Downtown? Laval? Rive Nord or Sud?

Your lights are very much appreciated.

Merci par avance!

I would say Downtown as it's easily accessible by public transit and central to Montreal island.

Laval (which is part of Rive nord/North shore) and the south shore (rive sud) are excentred.

Thank you! This is what I was thinking.

I was wondering if people were avoiding downtown like they do here in Toronto.

That would be one of the worst places to host, if you want my opinion... looks like the Bronx with the concrete lined highway and the most congested area on the island (15/40 interchange)
Along the 15 there are actually lots of hotels. Also you can be not far from a metro station.

Highway+subway access could be a good choice.

But DT has its conveniency.

Only once has someone ever complained that my incall was hard to reach because it's downtown. Most hotels downtown are also really close to metro stations. If you opt for Laval or rive sud, a lot of the hotels I've been to were really far from the shore and hard to reach.. Except maybe the Sandman near Longueuil metro, which isn't the most attractive and comfortable hotel. (but it does the job and I think requires no key card)

After consideration, I think I will do offer multiple location. I will decide depending on prebooking. Thank you all for your time.

Around the corner
Longueuil…

You might have more chance at the Quartier Dix-30 in Brossard, maybe?

There’s nothing in Longueuil.
Dix- 30 is easily reachable with the REM stop being there.
Many good restaurants, hotel and the largest shopping mall in Quebec all in walking distance from the REM.
