< UPDATE: A few people have pm'd me to ask if I would give them the girl's name in secret. The answer is no, I won't.

At first I was going to abide by whatever the mods had to say about the propriety of backchanneling info of this sort. Since nobody has made any attempt to ask the mods their opinion, I have to conclude that they figure the mods would say no. And, thinking it over, I can see why.

If I hand out the girl's name to one person, I have no idea who else that person may tell, who the third person might tell, and so on. The girl's name could be spread far and wide as a disease carrier, and in the meantime she might already have received her antibiotics and been cured.

Merbites are always talking about how they "respect the ladies." Here's your chance to prove it. You can protect your health by risking a girl's livelihood or by using a condom. My advice: use the condom. That's the best and only info I can give you. >

I was diagnosed with my first sdi yesterday, a case of chlamydia. No big deal, luckily. I was prescribed a dose of antibiotics that I took with dinner, and for the next week I have to avoid sex and stay out of the sun (one of the pills makes your skin extra-burnable). No problem.

The most interesting moment came when I called the agency that had sent me the girl in question. Understand that most often chlamydia doesn't present any symptoms. A person can spread it without knowing they have it. If you're diagnosed with chlamydia, you're doing the transmitter a favor if you let them know it's time to get tested.

In my case, one girl was the probable source just because chlamydia symptoms, if they appear at all, usually show up within weeks -- not years, not months, weeks. At the start of March I'd seen two girls from a popular and well-reviewed agency, and at the end of April I'd seen a girl from another popular and well-reviewed agency. That's it for my sex life during the year to date. The doctor who examined me said the timeline meant the April girl was the one who should be warned.

So I called the agency. Let me stress that the man I talked to was polite and patient throughout. It's just that he was completely wrong.

The man said flat out that you can't get chlamydia unless you have "unprotected intercourse," meaning FS without a condom, and that I could find this out myself by looking at Internet sources.

Well, no. From Canada Health:

Chlamydia is transmitted through vaginal, anal and oral sex

And from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control:

Chlamydia can be transmitted during vaginal, anal, or oral sex.

Pretty clear. The man said he had "three personal doctors" advising him. If so, he's being ripped off.

He also said the girl had been "tested" just two weeks ago and had been found clean. Obviously, I don't know if that's true or not. Usually someone who's lying won't point you to a source that contradicts them, as the man did when he told me to check out chlamydia on the Internet. On the other hand, maybe he figured it was best to play dumb rather than cop to the possibility of an infected girl and then have a client spread gossip about it near and far. Beats me.

Will I use the agency again? Yes. Will I get regular testing for sdi's? You bet. Of course that would be a good idea no matter what the man had told me.

(Edited to add this: The man also said that he would ask the girl to get tested again. Maybe he will, maybe he won't, but there ends the episode.)

Thanks for the good wishes. How about if you have one of the mods weigh in on the ethics of spreading this kind of info by pm? It seems to me there isn't much difference between posting the info for all to see and handing it out one by one. Either way a malicious type could spread a lie quite easily. But the mods have dealt with this kind of issue before, and I would abide by their judgment.

I think I've seen this before.. And you couldn't post this publicly.. But I mean it's kind of frustrating going half way.. And mentioning it .. And then not going all the way by telling who it is..

What a complete idiot this person is!! His personal MD's must have gotten their medical license's from cracker jack boxes then. I hope you contacted him again and provided him links to contradict his stupidity, also told him to speak to his employee again.

Thanks for sharing RP,

True enough. On the other hand, frustration is part of the hobbying lifestyle. At least I'm usually pretty bummed when the time comes for the girl to leave.

Anyway, if the mod says pm is ok, I'll pm you. If not, not.

Special K -- I don't think I'll call the guy back to say "told you so." For one thing, I want to break my bad habit of trying to convince people they're wrong. For another, and FWIW, he did say he'd ask the girl to get tested again, and that's something I should have mentioned in my post. So it's not like there'd be any big practical difference if I pursued the matter.
