This is ridiculous, and pathetic. So now these weak-kneed power companies who are too lazy to spend money on their cybersecurity infrastructure are paying millions of dollars in ransom because their business operation were crippled by terrorist hackers????????? Have they not opened the door to and invited future cyberattacks on other power companies?

Not a problem, they will pass the cost on to the consumer.
Unfortunately some of these hackers are probably better than the security that is available.
I bet they will not hold any Russian companies for ransom though, Putin would know how to discourage them forever.
