Crossing into Canada, do I need to declare Viagra or prescription meds to the officer at the border?

No. Not leaving the country. Yes. If you purchased meds in another country.
Correct. Prescription drugs are not something you need to declare unless you purchase them abroad.
I beg to differ, if you do not have your name and prescription ( little paper inside the bottle ) and get searched, depending on the meds, you will have to answer questions and prove that they are yours. If you cannot, they will or can be seized. I always bring my full prescriptions or make sure all the bottle have that little paper in them. Better safe than sorry.
The question was if it was necessary to declare the drugs. It is not. If your are elaborating about having to make sure that you bring the prescription bottle with you, I mean, that's pretty much a given. I think your talking about something else.
