Something to consider. Since cell membranes consist of mostly lipids/fatty components and viruses have to traverse this membrane to get into cells dietary fats consumed may have an effect on immunity. Any google search of fatty diet and immune system will return numerous articles. It is put nicely here:

"The development and optimal functioning of our immune system is directly influenced by our diet. Any deficiency or excess of certain nutrients can affect the number and activity of immune cells. Among the nutrients identified, dietary fatty acids are described as having major effects on immunity. Indeed, the fatty acid composition of the membranes of immune cells seems to be easily modulated under the effect of dietary fats and the resulting rapid changes in composition are likely to generate functional effects on the reactivity and functioning of these cells within a very short period of time."

There may be a reason why covid19 is heavily co-morbid in overweight poor diet people.

Apparently Sugar puts the immune system in temporary Coma.

So far eating pussies has done miracles for my immune system!
Definitely, the microbiome is the most important part of the immune system and the best source of probiotic is certainly pussies... not sure why they don't doctors don't recommend that.

Well every doctors I met agreed that a good diet, regular food, meat, fruits and vegetables, regular exercise, less stress and regular sex is the winning combination. There is not such a special diet to improve immune system. Finding BS on the web doesn't mean anything. Full of anti-vax use the web to convince themselves. And yes we are just beginning understanding the importance of the microbiome.

Great thread as long as the politics stay out of it. A very good friend of mine by definition is an "anti vaxxer" but he considers himself "pro immunity". He's been preaching to me for my whole life (not just the past 2 years) about eating healthy watching my weight so my body is able to fight off disease naturally when it has to.

I've found that my body runs best on a low carb high protein/healthy fats diet. Even when I'm not trying to loose weight I still try to watch out for the carbs. Keto diet would be the closest diet out there that would compare. By eating this way it keeps my weight down and blood sugar levels consistent during day which for me is key to maintaining a healthy immune system.

What I find interesting is that you haven't heard about increasing your immune system as a way to fight off COVID very much over the past two years. Vaccines, therapeutics, masks, etc. have been the headlines to prevent disease. But keeping your immune system in shape along with these other ways of protecting your body is the key IMHO.

Avoid the sugar and eat more pussy!

You immune system defends your body seconds by seconds against external attacks of all kinds, things you breathe, touch, eat. Some of these things are easily handled (every day things you breathe), some other are tougher (mild infections, colds) and some overwhelm it (e.g. encephalitis, COVID and other nasty stuff).

Having a healthy immune system certainly helps, there is no question about it. But when the attacker reproduces itself faster than the speed at which your immune system finds the key, you get sick.

Will good diet give your immune system infinite capacity to adapt and infinite speed? Or will it improve it by 10%, 50% or even 100% (e.g. double its effectiveness)? No matter how significant the improvement, will eating well protect you against every virus? I doubt it.

Interesting substance to consider:

NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) a functional amino acid.

"NAC may impair blood clotting"...covid vax side effect?
"NAC supplements can help those with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) by improving symptoms and managing lung decline."....covid therapy?
Detoxification
antioxidant
