for members only

I am wondering if MERB might be better off having a "members only" section. That way the long standing members would not have to deal with inexperienced hobbyists, who make rookie mistakes not only with SP, but also with posting information on the board.

As a new person, I find it increasingly difficult to want to say anything on a post or make a review because what I say, or how I say it, or where I posted it, or when I posted it might make me look like I am human.

I know that everyone's time here is valuable and think that maybe having a members only section here would be beneficial to long standing members. At the same time, you can have a "guest" area for newbies, who can learn through on the job training. maybe something like a guest has to make at least 50 posts before they are allowed into the members area.

This is just an idea. This board can be valuable to new people, but it can also scare away people who can contribute something valuable.

I don't think that would be a good idea. The 411 forums are pretty much a forum for newbies, if that's what you're looking for.

What I like about these Canadian boards is the "open-ness," where veterans and rookies mingle together to swap info.

I find that the US boards like TBD and TER are more elitist and stricter with their posting rules. Granted, most of that is due to concerns about LE. But, this is a much friendlier place for newbies than the US boards.

Well, I certainly see your point about newbies being hesitant to post as they feel intimidated by some veteran members.

This may indeed be one of the few boards whose culture may not encourage newbies. Whenever I would go on other sites for hobbying destinations I have found that the people tend to be a bit more helpful. For example, on World sex guide, The Erotic Review, or Club HOmbre, my questions are always answered with open arms regarding issues that I don't know. On those sites, I would be considered a newbie or lurker.

I hope more and more folks here will find more patience with newbies. We all have been newbies at one time.

You seemed to have posted your feelings, in the correct section, and worded appropriately. You won't be flamed (probably), criticized (hopefully) or corrected (possibly) for what you said.

I have found over the years that you learn by doing, and along the way you'll make mistakes, piss some people off and get better over time. Separating newbies from veterans will only limit your resources and possibly reduce your success. Post what you want, ask for help where necessary, and assume that you'll make a mistake at some point. We all did, do and will.

Last December I attended Celine's dinner party and the get-together at the HDLM, without having met anyone face to face before. Both events were very awkward and although I would be considered a veteran hobbyist, I was afraid that I would say or do something stupid. But I figured, at some point we have all been in the exact same situation.

My humble advice
- read the FAQ's and the "sticky" notes in each section.
- Search before posting.
- Never post if you're angry at another poster, mad at an agency, or drunk!
- Read other members' reviews of ladies that you've seen. You may find others with similiar experiences & taste in women.
