The Omni in Montreal is offering a special rate through Travel Zoo (link below). $116 USD per night, about half price. I've never stayed at this particular Omni, but I have others and they are legitimate four star/diamond properties.

Assuming this place is guest-friendly, this is a great deal.

Omni Mont-Royal

I've stayed there a couple of dozen times over the years & usually got it for around $70-80 on both PL & HW. I'd say it's more a legitimate 3-star than a 4-star. Ask SK how much he likes the place! ;)

I like the setup of the rooms....most of the rooms are fairly big & have sofas in them. Internet is free & the gym/spa is great. Nice little bar in the lobby area & the chinese restaurant (Zen) is quite decent. Location is good. My only beef with the place is that the rooms & furniture are ancient-looking & have been in need of renovations for the past few years.

No problems with this hotel. Internet is free. Gym is excellent for a hotel gym.

I agree with the 4 star rating. 3-star to me is Holiday Inn Select or Novotel.

Front desk staff is hot (sexy uniforms), and even the maids are somewhat MILFy.

I'm no fan of the HI Select either. It could even be a 2.5 star. Novotel, not more than 3 stars i agree. But the Omni isn't in the same league as other 4-star properties, including the Hyatt Regency which is still (to my amazement!) a 3-star on Priceline. Hotwire has it properly listed as a 4-star. In my opinion, the Omni should either be dropped to 3 star level or make it a 3.5 star hotel at the most. I agree, though, that some of the front desk staff are hot. :D

However, considering some of the shitholes that they have listed under 3-star, the Omni does make sense as a 4-star.

What's nice about the Omni is they have a mirror next to the bed.:) Also, their robes are nice.

agree with Doc... It's sub-par for a 4 star hotel. The rooms, decor, hallways, elevators etc are all very tired. However location is good, and at that price it's not a bad deal. You could definitely pay more and get less than this.

And, as someone said, they have some hot staff at the front desk...

There is no definitive ratings system for hotels. It is very subjective.

However, FWIW, here is the criteria for the Mobil star rating system:

Mobil Five-Star Hotels: An exceptionally distinctive luxury environment offering expanded amenities and consistently superlative service make these hotels and inns the best in the U.S. and Canada. Attention to detail and the anticipation of guests' every need are evident throughout this exclusive group of hotels. The Mobil Five-Star lodging category includes such hotels as The Peninsula Beverly Hills, the Four Seasons Hotel Chicago and The Ritz-Carlton San Francisco.

Mobil Four-Star Hotels: Outstanding establishment in a distinctive setting with expanded amenities and exceptional service to create a luxury experience. Services may include, but are not limited to, automatic turndown service, valet parking and 24-hour room service. The Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, Mandarin Oriental Miami and Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas are prominent names in the Mobil Four-Star category, known for personalized service and hospitality, in addition to luxurious accommodations.

Mobil Three-Star Hotels: Well-appointed establishment with a full service restaurant and expanded amenities and services such as, but not limited to, room service, fitness center and optional turndown service. Many Hyatt, Hilton, Marriott, and Westin hotels are established names in the Mobil Three-Star category. Other notable Three-Stars include The Heathman Hotel and the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.

Mobil Two-Star Hotels: Comfortable establishment that is clean and reliable with expanded services including a full-service restaurant. Doubletree Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott and Four Points by Sheraton are well-established names in the Mobil Two-Star category.

Mobil One-Star Hotels:
Clean, comfortable and reliable establishments with limited services and amenities. Some hotels may not have a full-service restaurant or dining room. Many Hampton Inns and Fairfield Inns consistently earn a Mobil One-Star rating.
