One of the ubiquitous listings boards popping up to 'help promote' indy escorts had a line

has been on the site for a while now and appears to be one of the favourites of our visitors.

Yeah. She's been e-mailed a whole seven times, and since she didn't post her phone number, that would be the only contact she got from her listing on that site.

There are tons of these things out there, everytime a girl puts up a site, she gets inundated with offers for limited time only 'free' listings that turn to 'give us money' soon enough.

none of them have any appreciable traffic, either, and don't show up in any google hits.

I'm trying to come up with a Web 2.0 way to bust up this racket, set up a site so indy's can post their own profiles and drive traffic to their sites, for free, forever.

MERB is a great resource, don't get me wrong. Google always lists MERB reviews as top hits to the appropriate search terms. The only thing missing here are the profiles and links to sites, and I think there's got to be a better way to handle such things that doesn't cost an SP money she (or he) doesn't need to spend.

The links on this board in the sponsor's section seem to work fine.. ..are we missing something ?

Absolutely, but MERB doesn't seem to be too concerned about providing space for competitors to tout their services here either. My only concern was with lame competitors who are taking hard-earned money from people and promising successful promotion of their services.

I'm thinking of a canonical listing service that doesn't charge, or require some butt-ugly logo be flown on the SP or agencies' website. No reviews. There are ways to gain traffic that could easily pay for the service, and top google searches over the lame 'pay us $50/month and we'll list a page for you' deals.

Advertising on merb would not be affected in that anyone who cares to would still continue to recognize the value in that.
