Heading up to Montreal next month for my first visit. As far as visits with SPs are concerned, which would you choose between the Hotel Nelligan and the Hotel St. Sulpice? Both look quite nice, but I'm curious as to which hotel's rooms set a better mood for the encounter.

I've stayed at both, and prefer the Nelligan. I like the exposed brick walls and the warmer tone of the rooms. The St. Sulpice is nice, but doesn't feel as plush. I also prefer the restaurant at the Nelligan, and the bar scene can sometimes be lively.

Nelligan for sure.
Try to have a room in their new expansion. I agree totally with Aeneas comments. Their suites are exquisite.
The St Sulpice is more a long stay suite hotel as far I'm concerned. Have a kitchenette, microwave. Not my cup of tea.
If the Nelligan is full (it happens very often), try their sister hotel, the Hotel Place d'Armes, a couple of block north in Old Montreal.
They also have a very good restaurant, Aix. Menu pretty similar to the Nelligan but they have a great jazz bar where you might see some of the FKS ladies but a great meat market as well. You might be lucky or the girl you invite to your suite might request a donation.

I've stayed at the Saint Sulpice several times & never yet stayed at the Nelligan. However, i've never heard a single bad thing about the Nelligan. If money was no object, i'd stay at the Nelligan (and Place d'Armes) over St-Sulpice.
I'd stay at the St-Sulpice during the winter months when it was considerably more affordable. I'd get the full suited for $140....separate bedroom with its own tv, fake fireplace, lots of space, etc. It was very nice, but i felt the atmosphere was a bit cold. Maybe the winter season had something to do with this, since the streets of Old Mtl were pretty deserted at the time. Totally different atmosphere as compared to the summer, which is the reason why the rooms are priced much lower during the winter months.

You aren't getting Le Nelligan for less than $200, which is really a lot to spend on a hotel room if you ask me. I would spend that in New York City because I don't have any choice but in Montreal, come on. Is a room at Le Nelligan more than twice as good as the 4 star room at Omni or Sheraton which you will get for $80 on Priceline? (Note: this is not a rhetorical question).

I checked their site a few days ago and there was one room going for less than $200, the rest were $200 and up (I checked for various dates in October I might be in the city).
I just double checked on random dates in mid October. King Superior room at Le Nelligan going for $208(CDN).

I've stayed at both the Nelligan and Place d'Armes - no complaints with either - and just booked the St. Sulpice for an upcoming visit, but think I will re-book at The Nelligan after reading this thread . . . 
Le Saint Sulpice considered
IMHO, Saint Sulpice at around $160(give or take $40) is worth it for number of reasons.
I pick up civilian girls once in a while, and having a suite comes in handy. I can invite her to my living room first, then the bedroom, etc, instead of 'just a hotel room'.
The shower at Saint Sulpice, which is big enough for 3 people, is made for erotic fore- and aft- play. Then there is the glass wall between bedroom and bathroom, glass sink and bath big enough to deep soak 2 adults.... lots of towels.
The bedroom has a mirror but about twice the width of narrow Omni one. (Frankly, I find Omni mirror placement more strategic, and narrowness makes for more naughtier view experience during doggi style )
With some promotions, full breakfast is included. Free afternoon cocktail for all guests. And if I stay in Montreal for a week or more, I self-cater half the meal with 2 gallons of various home made dehydrated foods: I can eat much better than at most restaurants at much cheaper price. A nearby supermarket will deliver groceries to your room as well.

The cheapest room available this weekend at Saint Sulpice is $265(CDN)/night (10/5-10/7). Prices increase dramatically from there and mid week the following week prices started at $345. Is a "superior" room at the St. Sulpice three times better than a room at the Sheraton which is going for $95 on Priceline this weekend (confirmed)?
If we are going to have a discussion on prices, those prices should be based on reality and not supposition.

To be clear, the only Sheraton you are going to get bidding on the Priceline 4 stars is Le Centre Sheraton on Rene Levesque. There are no other 4 star Sheratons in Montreal available on Priceline. In fact, I am not aware of any other Montreal Sheraton having accepted a Priceline bid at any star level in the recent past.
