Is there a good grocery store near downtown (walking distance from hotel district)?

I usually end up getting some water and snacks, along with beer and wine, at a local convenience store after I check-in. Every single time I feel like I am getting robbed. 12CDN for a 6 pack of water, etc.

Is there a respectable chain where I can buy liquor and snacks in the area?

Yes, you can also get beer and wine at any dépanneur or at a Couche-Tard

This IGA has a decent selection of beers, but does not carry that many wines. For a better selection of wine, I would suggest the SAQ in the same complex.

If you don't mind a bit of a walk or a short jump on the Metro, I recommend PA on Fort. Great quality meat and fish and better prices than the usual supermarket.
