Anyone see that Kenny Rogers meltdown last night? All anger
management issues aside, these pro athletes who attack
cameramen or sportwriters must be held accountable for what
they do. I know how annoying these cameramen can be, but that's
no excuse to push them around and then destroy expensive equipment.
What Rogers did was completely inexcusable and a disgrace to the
organization, and it'll be interesting to see if the team has the balls
to suspend him for the rest of the season before MLB does just that.

Personally, I'm sick of seeing these pro athletes act like the spoiled rich
kids that they are. Kenny Rogers needs a reality check. I don't know what he's earning pitching for the Rangers, but it's no doubt in excess of a million dollars. He's a 40 year old pitcher with mediocre stuff still hanging around when most guys his age have long retired from the game. For that salary, I'd gladly pitch every 5th day, mop the clubhouse floor, throw batting practice, sell a few bags of peanuts in the stands, kiss owner Tom Hick's multi billionaire ass, and smile for the cameras.

I've seen the K. Rodgers incident this morning on TV and this is one exemple of the kind of behaviour our pro's are now showing to the ones who are paying their salaries (the fans).

Unfortunatly, he isn't the only one like that. Not later than last weekend, Jeremy Roenick's comments were more than shocking for all the hockey fans by saying that he didn't want to see all of them who are mad at the players due to their salaries and the strike, from the fact that some fans were saying that they were a bunch of spoiled childs.

IMHO, those kind of behaviour will kill the professional sports because one day, the fans will have enough of this and they will stop to support them. The thing that all the pro's and the management from all sports don't realize is the fact that the ordinary people, the real fans, will need at least a life time and maybe more to do 1 year of their salaries. The other thing that they don't seem to understand is the fact that today, all the media (TV, radio and neewspapers) are, for many fans, the only way of beeing able to see their performance and to be able to ear from them.

The best example of a pro who had all the fan's admiration was Wayne Gretzky. As a player, he was always available for interviews, always polite and acting like a pro even though if you had the chance of meeting him on the street, he was a true gentleman. I know cause I had the chance of seeing and talk to him back in 93 during the playoffs, the day that Montreal had won their last Stanley Cup. Eventhough his team was facing elimination, he took the time to talk to me and signed an autograph. This is how they should sale their sport.

It doesn't cost much to smile and act like a pro.

He got a 20 game suspension plus an indisclosed $$ fine. Considering he's a pitcher, i think 20 games is a slap on the wrist, since he pitches every 5th game or so. 20 games would have been satisfactory for a fielder, not a pitcher. I also think that MLB should have ordered him to be sent to Anger Management School. These attacks were all unprovoked. Roid rage maybe???

Good point. I don't recall Rogers acting this 'angry' in the past. Maybe a sign of steroid/hgh withdrawal??
