The man who played the ultimate villain that everyone loved to hate, J.R. Ewing on Dallas, has died from complications from throat cancer at the age of 81. He first became famous playing Major Anthony Nelson in I Dream of Jeannie. Recently he returned to television as J.R. Ewing in the reboot of the Dallas series. He was the son of actress Mary Martin who was most famous for playing Peter Pan on Broadway. He was also an advocate of marijuana use over alcohol, the abuse of which had required a liver transplant in 1995.
