With the worst rates of school dropout among young boys in North America, he's the perfect role model for this generation of young morons. Don't go to school, don't waste your time trying to learn something useful for our society: Play poker it's all you need young folks!!!!!

Can we really be proud of that?

Then again, young girls are learning that they can just be cute and strut their stuff in front of a camera to be successful. All the American Idols or "your country"'s got Talent shows give false hope to youngsters, telling them they can become a star !
The only reason why these shows, or poker, play a role with school drop-outs is because of television. Everything now is televised, even "real-life" (so to speak). Are we so numb that we don't have our own lives to live and need to watch other people's lives ?
The parents are the only responsible people for school rop-outs or their young's behavior. The parents should not tolerate the kids to watch reality TV or PartyPoker or whatever they don't see fit for their child. But unfortunately, many parents these days just say to their kid "go watch TV' (i.e. "leave me alone") without any king of supervision...

So don't blame poker for school dropouts...

Come on Protagoras! I don't think it's fair to compare a high school drop-out with a guy who was studying finance at university and decided to suspend his studies to try playing poker full-time.
Some of the best poker players have university education, studied in finances, mathematics, actuary, ingeneering, etc.

Duhamel went on tv last sunday ( on Tout le monde en parle) and did mention that he doesn't recommend to kids to abandon school for a poker career.
You cannot conclude that someone who suspended his education to become a world-class poker player to be automatically a bad influence and will influence youngsters to abandon school.
If so, you would have to include Céline Dion, who never finisher her high school, hockey players like Patrick Roy,Wayne Gretzky, etc.

There are many complex reasons why youngsters quit school. The family cell not as solid and stable as before, the education ministers changing drastically the education programs, overcrowding in the classrooms, etc.
Also, for a young man, looking for encouragement and motivation, having someone like you Protagoras, putting everyone in the same bag and calling them " ... this generation of morons..." really doesn't help...

And yes, I think we can be proud of our poker champ!
