It looks like it's been a while since there's been a Montreal nightlife thread.

I'm spending July in Montreal. While I might do some hobbying, I'm also interested in meeting single women around town. I'm an unattached anglo, but nearly 40 -- so the youthful night crowds on St. Laurent and the college bars are not for me.

Any recommendations for meeting places for singles over 30? And has anyone heard reports about a place called "Le Bar Lovers," a place alledgedly for more mature folks (25+)? Thanks.

I have been to "Lovers" in Laval - I only went once (I swear) and all I can say is - very weird! The women were either very old (or looked that way) or very screwed up on something other than cocktails. The men were not much better, very aggressive and, at least when I was there, I felt like I was fresh meat!

I am over 30 and have enjoyed Thursdays for years, I know it isn't the best music, not necessarily the greatest place, but I have never had a bad time there. I also like the Irish pubs, like McGibbins, Hurleys, etc, though I am not sure about the pick-up scene... I think most women over 30 are trying to meet people they can trust and therefore, we tend to see friends of friends of friends... of course, I cannot speak for everyone, but that is my observation.

Have fun in Montreal!

the girl i have a massage with regularly ... we both live in this area so she told me lovers is GONE -- completely removed, maybe to make space for elder housing... I went once and really nothing missing!!! Lousy DJ, lots of loser guys running around poking your date, or trying to poke your date.

If you are looking to pick up women, then I cannot help you, look at my name, BUT if you are looking for conversation with olderish people (I'm in my 30s), then there are places like Hurleys on Crescent, and then there's some place on the next street over, another Irish Bar, McKibbens. I found this perfect Moe's Tavern place, I must have been the youngest by many years, no chick in her right mind would go there because it wouldn't contain the kind of guys she wants attention from, and I loved the place for that very reason. DOn't remember the name, all they had on draught was molson and coors light.

Highly unlikely. That's why I'm going to me in Montreal in 2 weeks, just so I have, umm, er... Believe me, I've compared myself with many, many people and I have to have the worst game of any male that ever walked the face of the planet. You could stick me in a bar with my only male competition being a guy who has leprosy, HIV and an arm growing out of his head and I will lose out. Again, there's a reason I'm going to Montreal... It's because of no options. haha.
