I have noticed that some huge money has been getting handed out to NBA free agents. First an injury prone Gordon Hayward got $120 million/4 years from Charlotte, and now Utah has given Donovan Mitchell $195 million/5 seasons. Obviously the NBA ownership elite is not afraid of Covid for them to be handing out these contracts:

Look at this, Rajon Rondo is now a 34 year old back up point guard who plays 18 minutes a game, but that is good enough to snag a $7.5 million a year contract:

And Toronto gave Freddy Van Vleet $85 million over 4 years. He is a nice player but his D is not as good as this article makes out, he was blowtorched by Marcus Smart in the playoffs and made him look like Steph Curry shooting 3s:

Charles Barkley Hammers Kyrie Irving media boycott:

“When he talks, I'm like, what is he saying and what is he trying to say? He starts talking about what an artist is. He’s a basketball player. That’s what he is. Listen, we’re not front line responders. We’re not teachers. Yo man, you dribble a basketball, stop acting like you’re the smartest person in the world.

“Now can you talk about social issues and things like that? Of course. But some of this other stuff I’m like ‘Yo, man, you do realize you’re just a basketball player, right?’ And it seems like he’s like, ‘No, I want you guys to know I’m the smartest guy in the room.’ Well, first of all, you’re not. You only went to college for six months. A lot of guys are smarter than you are. Just answer stupid basketball questions. And if you want to say something about social justice, say it and mean it, because it’s important and significant. But all that other stuff? Like, yo, man, shut the hell up and talk basketball.”

54 points for Freddy Van Vleet, and not a single one of these 3s touched rim, all were NBN.
What a game by an extremely deserving player! The team record for three pointers is 12 (by Donyell Marshall) and FVV came one short of tying that record.

That is the Raptors record. The NBA record is 14 by Klay Thompson. Donyell Marshall is an ex star player for the UConn Huskies and was a 1st team All American before he left UConn after his sophomore year.

Van Vleet was not a big scorer in college, he was mostly known for very high assist totals and played at Wichita State with another guard, Ron Baker, who had a cup of coffee with the NY Knicks before being cut. I saw both guys in college and coming out of college, I would have rated Ron Baker a better prospect than Van Vleet, as he was bigger and a much more accomplished 3 point shooter than FVV in college. But I think Van Vleet has a very impressive shooting form and every single one of his 11 3s was nothing but net, dead center swishes. He has developed into a nice player.

Freddy was coached in college by Greg Marshall, who was forced to resign in disgrace from Wichita State after reports surfaced that he abused some of his players after 6 guys transferred off his team at the end of last season. I was shocked by the transfers because I thought Wichita State had the best young team in their conference, but that's when these reports surfaced and there was a basic conclusion that he lost the respect of the team.

Nick Nurse has got them playing good BB ... they are currently above 0.500 and on a four game winning streak ... they might have found something with this Chris Boucher guy , he played pretty good against the 76’ers yesterday... also it looks like Kyle Lowry is on his way out ...I guess they feel confident having Fred VV ...

some interesting trades are developing in the east ... P.J.Tucker traded to the Bucks and Trevor Ariza is going to Miami ... both great players that could make a difference in the playoffs
