The Air Force staff sergeant who posed nude for Playboy magazine has been relieved of her duties while the military investigates, officials said Thursday.

In the February issue of Playboy, Staff Sergeant Michelle Manhart is photographed in uniform yelling and holding weapons under the headline "Tough Love". The following pages show her partially clothed, wearing her dog tags while working out, as well as completely nude.

I would have to see the photos first. :D

But seriously, if she's just in the photos with dog tags or fake military gear, I don't see why she was discharged.

If she's wearing her full dress uniform in a provocative manner, the same way the Delta flight attendant was, I can see the reasoning.

Still think the US is way too puritan though.

That's the American way! Violence can be shown, no big deal but, don't even think about skin! Skin is deadly and should not be shown! Sorry no offense intended to anybody, just saying what I see.

This is totally stupid. If posing nude is immoral, why is it legal? She didn't do anything illegal so they have no reason to discharge her. I hope she will be able to fight for her rights. We're not talking about a crazy bitch either, it's a married woman with kids. Nothing wrong there.

Article 134. General article. Includes offenses that are not specifically listed in the Manual for Courts-Martial and which may "cause disorder and neglect to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, or conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon the armed forces." Article 134 is often considered to be a "catch-all" for various offenses that aren't necessarily covered by the other articles in the UCMJ. Article 134 offenses include disloyal statements, unclean equipment, improper wear of military uniform, abuse of public animals, adultery, bigamy, bribery, fraternization, et al.

She hasn't been discharged yet, she will have to go thru a court martial procedure and get a lawyer. Article 134 as it sez above is the "catch all" article. When I was in the Marine Corps, anything that was considered "Conduct unbecoming a Marine" you were charged under this Article.

EB might be able to shed more light since he is lawyer. As for my experience s, Military Law and Military Life is governed differently. As I understood it, I was owned by the US Government, Anything I do is reflected as direct representation of the Military Service I was in.

That's one way to get out of going to Iraq. Seriously, it's kinda stupid what the military is doing, but then again the U.S profess to be a bunch of rightous arse but yet spend the most money on the porn business go figures. maybe I'll make the next sp dress in a uniform :p

This past Thursday, the US Air Force removed Playboy Model Michelle Manhart from extended active duty and also demoted her in rank from Staff Sergeant to Senior Airman.

She said that she now plans to "pursue anything that comes her way, whether it be in Los Angeles or New York or Hollywood".

One also has to ask oneself whether she was the stupidest N.C.O. in the U.S.A.F. How with a strait face can she say that she didn't think the U.S. Air Force would take disciplinary action against her - come on get real.
