Where I belong.
Johnny Podres, who pitched the Brooklyn Dodgers to their only World Series title in 1955, died Sunday at the age of 75.

The left-hander was picked for four All-Star games and was the first Most Valuable Player in World Series history. He became a hero to every baseball fan in Brooklyn when the Dodgers ended decades of frustration by beating the Yankees to win the World Series.

Podres was 5-5 in 24 games with an ERA of 3.27 while pitching for the Montreal Royals down at DeLorimier Downs aka Montreal Stadium in 1952.

It was reported this morning that the Yankees are about to offer Podres a 1-year $29,895,000,000 contract. Now the question is: can Podres do worse than Roger Clemens?

Wouldn't be the first time that they've signed a stiff. Names such as Pavano & Wright come to mind.....
