Sad news! Montreal restaurant legend murdered.

Very sad news today, a Montreal legend has been murdered. Tony Koulakis, founder of Cosmo's, one of Montreal's best known greasy spoons, was found dead in his apartment yesterday. Police have arrested his son, Johnny Koulakis for the murder. Tony was one of the friendliest people I ever met and he served some of the most cholesterol packed and tasty food around. May he rest in peace.

In other news, a friend just stopped by to leave flowers at the door only to discover that the Tony's other son has the place open today.

Been out of town for a little while and I was shocked to hear the news upon my return. My heart goes out to this iconic family who is partially responsible for my lipitor prescription. I probably had my first "creation sandwich" about 30 years ago when Tony would stand over the grill with a butt hanging from his mouth. As I got older I visited less frequently but I still made the trip at least 6 times a year even up to this year. May he rest in peace.
