Friday morning I was minding my own business on Twitter and I noticed I was followed by someone posing as Erika Delarose. Shortly after this, the scammer sent me a DM. Coincidentally, I had been lusting over her photos and I read Halloween Mike's review. Based on this review, I had just recommended her to a friend from Toronto. I really wanted to talk with her and I was happy for the coincidence so I engaged in a conversation. She quickly invited me to see her "...live exclusive sexy content...." She told me it was only $.99 to join and this was just to verify me.
She sent me an invite. The first screen asked me to sign up and select a password and then the next screen asked for my credit card information. At this point, red flags are popping up everywhere. So I decided to verify her. I sent her a PM on MERB. I asked her to go to MERB and answer my PM. She told me she felt insulted by my request and said she no longer wanted to see me. I told her that her site wasn't working and she should forget me. She said hold on and sent me another site that asked for my CC information. I just logged off and went to work.
I reached out to Mike who informed me that there are a lot of fake Twitter accounts for Erika Delarose. That's when I noticed that the scammer that was sending me DMs and followed me had an account entitled Erika Delarose @ErikaDeIarose. I noticed that I already had followed her as Erika Delarose@ErikaDelarose. Notice the "I" in DeIarose verse an "L" in Delarose. In most fonts it is tough to see the difference when using the lower case "l" and the uppercase "I." I sent the real Erika a DM to inform her that someone has stole her photos and created a fake account and is trying to use it to scam others. The real Erika has not answered my MERB PM or my Twitter DM.
There is no way I'm going to give some stranger my credit card information over the web anyway and most of you will not either but still, I thought it was a good reminder that there are scammers out there posing as escorts trying to get credit card information. Be careful.
