Last Thursday, I walked into Pigalle, in Gatineau. I was not even seated that I was approached by a girl asking me to go to the booths. I declined, and sat down. Even before I was offered a beer, I was visited by two more girls, and not the prettiest...., who introduced themselves and wanted to go to the booths "to have fun". In the end, I got fed-up and just left. When a girl is pushy like this, she just screams "SCAM"...

I don't know if it's just me guys, but I'm getting tired of this.... I remember the days where you could go to a strip club, enjoy a good show, pick a girl of your taste to either dance on a stool or go to the booth with. Not anymore. You are pressured as soon as you walk in and you are left with having the not so pleasant conversation "sorry, I'm just trying to have a beer here..." code word for "you're not my type".... It turns the fun you were hoping to have into a misery...

I know I'm talking about one particular strip club, but it is representative of what I have seen it becoming over the last couple of years.

Am I the only one who is feeling like this? It appears to me like it's the best way to turn off your customers.... Any dancing girls in this forum, what do you think?

How can we make strip clubs pleasant places again?

You can still have dances at tables in some clubs. (Wandas downtown mtl, I believe has table dance only)
Most clubs have VIP couches where strippers will gladly dance for you and your friends... Same prices than in booth though...

I admit that there are too much ugly/chubbies allowed in the strip clubs these days...
And they are always the ones coming first to our table because all the pretty ones are busy but not the ugly ones...
So you must learn to turn them away politely. Some will be mad about it, many will take it with a good attitude.

Since the dances in the booth are tolerated, this is where the girls are making their money.
So when you go to SC, you must know that you will be solicitated to go in tha booth.
You can still enjoy stage shows.

Some girls will ask if they can sit with you a bit to chat.
But you must know that she is "working", so if you allow her to sit and start chatting, after 20-30 min, she obviously expect you to bring her in da booth.
So before you let her sit, make sure you like her look and have a budget :)

So, you can still go to a SC to have fun with your buddies but you must know how to turn strippers away if you do not intend to pay for dances.
It might be a good idea to pay for a VIP table or couch if you are with a group of friends. Does not cost much and you can have dances on the spot.
It takes some practice.
But if you get easily annoyed from getting sollicitated, SC are not for you anymore.

Because Strippers don't have a salary for making stage shows.
At most SC, they get nothing or only a coupon for a free drink for each stage shows they make.

I'm the shy type of customer, so I prefer a girl to come by and ask me fo a dance than me ask a girl...
I'm able to turn away girls that are not my type.

I myself still enjoy going to SC in the today format.

Habs Nation!
UB covers it all...

Though i would add a little detail if you decline dances to the booth after a while the word will be passed by the girls among them

and they stop coming seeing you since you clearly won't dance anyone and it is a loss of their time. Well, it work that way in some

club

Thanks for your replies guys. UB, I agree that going with a bunch of guys, you may be avoid or deflect the annoyance. What I'm referring to its when you go by yourself. The girls smell the honey and are on you like bees!

I guess I'm different in that I like to choose the exceptional girl, but I don't like to be unpleasant. As you say, some take it lightly but many act quite upset! When I see their bitchy attitude I'm actually thankful I didn't accept them!

You are right on target. My last few trips to Montreal, I stopped by Cleo's like I always do. I have been going here for 10+ years. But like the OP wrote, I noticed a change for the worse too. Many more unattractive fatties (even my Cleo's standards:smile:), and there was WAY too much pressure from the dancers for private dances. I didn't even stop in last trip, and next week when I'm in town I'm not sure I will, either. I know the girls make their money with dances in the booths, but come on. Let me sit down for a few minutes and actually order a drink before the harassment starts. It's like the old protocols have been thrown out the window. The safest place seems to be by the bar area/video gambling machines. But I like to sit and relax, too. I don't know, maybe strip clubs have just lost their allure for me.

Hello all,

It's the age we live in, not only the strip clubs and definitely not limited to Montreal. Everything is about getting to the customer first, not waiting for the customer to make a choice which is unlikely to be toward any one individual or business. It's understandable. The ladies want the best chance possible to make a profit so approaching sooner makes more sense. Still I agree completely that it's an annoyance. I don't like to be rushed or targeted by some kind of marketing technique. I like to relax, look around, and make my choice. In one case that made a stripper on stage angry. Seats were full and I saw the next lady getting ready knowing from the routine that the turn of the lady on stage would be over very shortly. I wanted to be sure to get close to the next performer so I sat down. When the lady already on stage came to me I waved her off, but instead of moving on when there were plenty of guys she got snooty.

How can we make strip clubs pleasant places again?

I doubt that these quick hitting "Try Me" tactics are going to change. If you go to a club on peak nights and peak times you may find safety in numbers, but then there are probably more ladies waiting to take their turn on stage who will be looking for anyone new who walks in to try to entice you to a booth. However in that case you may also have trouble pinning down the lady of your choice. Unless the club has a certain "no rush" attitude I think what you describe is something we all have to deal with. Fortunately, I'm almost completely past going to strip clubs.

Good luck,

Merlot

Look behind you.
Personally I am done with strip clubs, many years ago in Alberta there were no booths and girls would not bother you, a person or group could go to a club and enjoy the evening watching strippers, then Show Girls ( run by the HA ) opened up and started no contact semi private dances and the solicitations started. Years ago Madonas in Drummondville used to be fun, a person could go in and if you did not make eye contact and nod a approval you would not get harassed, now it is an unpleasant experience if you just want to watch some girls and have a couple of drinks. The place used to be packed 4 years ago and now only a few customers go, I stopped by a couple of weeks ago for a beer on the way home and saw a dancer I knew and she told me there are days when she makes no money at all... If they dropped their 20/100/200 pricing to 10/70/120 business would boom.

I must admit that part of my intent through this thread is to make the strip club staff that may read this aware that most of us don't appreciate this kind of pushy behaviors and that it makes us run away from their establishments rather than spend more money in them. I hear strip club are in difficulty, if they don't correct course things are going to get even worse and many/most will shutdown...

Any view from the girls in the business?

It not easy for them (girls) to know which one do not want to get disturb. Some guys want girls come to them.
I have a friend, he want the girls approch him first, even she not good looking, he will took her to the booth, just because she come to him.
Because in real life, no girl approch him. lol.
Also, you could tell her that you don't take dance, it sup to her to stay or not.

OP, I can understand what you're trying to say. It is annoying to get bombarded before you've settled in, get your eyes adjusted, sit back and take in the atmosphere.

I agree with most of the comments / observations made by the others. In retrospect, I do remember a time when it was very easy going, and most times, it was as great as you imagined it would be prior to stepping into the club. But it has evolved into what it is now. Not to say you can't have an excellent experience, but imo, it's not as frequent as it was more commonly available before.

Like everything else, it's disappointing when a really good thing fades away. But that's life. I really think you just have to take it in stride. Don't let past expectations ruin your time. Just decline those early advances. Say you just got in and want to settle in first. Ask their name, have they had a good day. I'll find you when I'm ready etc.. It's not always going play out exactly how you expect. If you give up before it starts, then you'll always be disappointed.

I think it's telling of how things are from their perspective. If they have to go to that type of approach, the quality decline etc.

just go and have fun.

For me I find that, if I feel more lonely than horny, going to a SC might be more effective than calling an escort, dollar for dollar. Also, when you return to the same club, your favorite girl(s) remember you and they might give you access to more goodies than the first time.

When i was younger and before discovering the escort scene, i was a Strip Club regular. Maybe because i didn't fit the business look i didn't had many girls coming to me for dances. Obviously this was in sherbrooke and its a lot smaller than the montreal scene, wich i never experienced outside of the compagny of some merbiste. I remember how i was shy in the early days and actually would had like them to come to me instead of having to make the move. I swear i was so shy i sometimes would have to wait like an hour to make the move and on a couple ocasions even missed a girl because i had to leave or something and i could never ask her(she was busy etc)

Now in these days i am not really interest in SC anymore, there pretty costly and i am pass the "wow" factor of seeing a girl naked if i can say. Booth dances are just an apetiser and you end up wasting 60-70$ or more and in the end you still got your boner coming out. Only way i can enjoy them is if im with a bunch of friends and i was able to see an escort earlier, this make me less horny and less likely to loose money for not much.

About the whole hussle thing, obviously here is how i see it. Usually you arrive, take your first beer, and scout the place. Personally i would try to spot all of dancers in the place then eventually pick the one that attrack me the most and choose her. On ocasion if a girl came sitting and was really cool and fun to talk to, i could get in a booth with her if the chemistry was great and i started to lust a bit over her. Sometimes it turned out great too. But usually since its only a "look" service more or less, i would choose the one that appeal the most to me and thats it. So obviously if you just arrive and get harrased, not a good thing :/

But anyway, its funny how younger i always wanted to go to SC and nowadays if i want to go out with buddies, i would rather have a beer in a normal bar. SC are so loud you can barely here people talk, and all you can do is sit and drink (and watch) while normal bars have pool and sometimes other stuff to do. Maybe some people feel it as a compromise to having hot girls sit with them, wich they could not achieve in a normal bar...? In any case i would personally keep seeing escorts instead of wasting money at the SC
