Look behind you.
I know this is not a popular holiday with Quebecers but do any of you cook up a massive meal and have family and friends over?
I have a 10 kg bird which was just put in the oven, there will be stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, asparagus, peas, cranberries, fresh buns and apple pie with icecream. Stocked up on plenty of alcohol also.
Out west it is a tradition to show thanks to friends and family, pretty sure it is popular in the US also.

Look behind you.
I actually love turkey, like being around family and friends. How someone can hate that so much is baffling. There is no 3 weeks of advertising with horrid music, no signs up promoting anything.
My son and daughter bring a friend or two and enjoy the evening.

Actually in my house you can feel free to add whatever you want, all you need to do is ask. I will not put the entire contents of my fridge on the table in case one person wants avocado or goat cheese added to his meal.
My daughter is a vegetarian, I will make poached cod with curry shrimp for her.

Hope you at least have a toasted turkey, bacon & cheese sandwich.
Have a good day.

Try brining your turkey the night before in water and a cup or two of salt. Peal back the skin (gently) and rub the turkey with olive oil and seasonings. Get a paper shopping bag and used soya oil to saturate the bag. You use the bag to make a tent out of it in an open roasting pan. Seal the end of the bag up and cook as directed (look this up). I always make homemade stuffing too. Box stuffing is garbage. This makes for a delicious turkey. There is no comparison to this and the turkey that is cooked and run through a chipper shredder and molded into lunch meat. Yuk!

^^^^ For my brine I use kosher salt, brown sugar, rosemary and apple cider.

Seems nice Hungry. I make turkey at christmas. Thanksgiving is just a 3 day week-end for us and that's it.

I usually add over-caramelized onions into mashed potatoes. It adds some punch. Also I serve the turkey with a green pepper sauce. I like that better then fruity canneberges sauce which I am not a fan.

And yes do your own stuffing is an absolute must!

This is actually in french an amazing running gag as I always ask 'Qui veut fourré la dinde?' To which one will answer 'Pas moi j'ai déja fourré la mienne ce matin' haha we laugh like crazy even tho we've been running the joke for 15 years ;)

Au Québec, l'action de grâce est juste une occasion d'avoir un congé payé. Ce n'est pas vraiment fêté. Les E.-Unis la fêtent pas mal plus que nous

Will celebrate it in Florida November 28 with family. I like the turkey tradition myself, but my parents don’t like turkey, so I will stuff a chicken instead, probably with a sausage cornbread stuffing. I like the pumpkin pie tradition for dessert, although you really need to invest the time and bake one using Libby’s pumpkin pie filling because the quality of store bought pumpkin pies varies widely.
