The act of "outing" name changes, maybe we should think twice?

I have recently been privy to 2 recent instances (at 2 different massage parlours) where a member here "outs" a name change, in other words reveals previous working name of a service provider, inadvertently or not, when it turns out that provider changed her name as a way of trying to lose the trail of a "bad client" (basically a stalker).

In both instances the provider went to great lengths to change their name, change pictures, lose regular clients for a while and even change work location as a way to continue in this business while trying to put space between her and that client.

Needless to say it failed both times, and both times the provider again stopped working for while. I do believe if a bad client is determined to find the object of his obsession, he eventually will, but should we make it easy for him??

I also understand, sometimes girls change their work name more for "marketing reasons", in other words, they had some bad reviews and want to make a fresh start, and as memebers we like to be informed about it. But I am starting to think that outing these girls is just bad practice. If a girl wants to change her name, perhaps we should really think twice before we reveal it to the rest of the community.

As a side note, I also suggest putting a disclaimer in the section Escorts changing names, changing places about being sure the reveal is appropriate (as far as the member can tell) before posting.

Maybe i'm "white knighting" here a bit But recent events have got me thinking and i am turning to the community for opinions.

What? No, absolutely not. Obviously there are some nuances but for the most part name changes are to hide bad reviews.

You make a good point, I changed names at least 4 times and every time it was because of a stalker (if you're still on Merb : hi, loser!), not because of bad reviews. I stopped changing names when I had enough regulars that I could start screening every new client, but I wonder how many people assumed my service sucked before then because of the name changes lol :/

Personally I would simply ask the girl if it's ok to share her new name before doing it

Yup, hesitated about posting on a change of name or location. The main reason for doing it was to inform members who knew the provider or those who were interested in seeing her. Knowing the old names is helpful when looking for reviews.

It was also to help out the provider with marketing when moving to a new location with new clientele. I did receive a message from one of the owners giving me a hard time about it. When I asked the provider, she was stoked about it and encouraged me to give her more publicity. I think the owners concerns were more about losing business.

I knew a provider who specifically changed names, location and description so she wouldn’t be found by a boyfriend. Obviously never posted about that. (Boys: please note that sometimes the stats are intentionally wrong!)

I’ve also known providers who changed names to hide bad reviews.

I don’t see how posting in the thread for that purpose would be any different. Unless you ask for permission beforehand, but how likely would you get a response by doing that?

Also, what would prevent the stalker from asking in that thread? In fact there are posts asking about 411 on certain providers. They could be from a jealous boyfriend or stalker.

The best thing would be for the provider to post in the thread about name changes or no-review policy. But not all providers are on merb or even know about it.

In the end, probably best just to shut up (referring to me as well) about girls you’re involved with. Learned that a long time ago

The data leaks not by itself but because people blab, either here or elsewhere. I think it's best to not say anything. Also.. When it comes to being a MP worker in particular, it's a lot more anonymous than being an indy SP, specially when you work at places that hire a LOT of girls and have very a very high turnover rate. Even if the SP had bad reviews it doesn't mean they changed their name for that reason necessarily. It feels stalker-ish in itself to seek SP's old personas and reveal them to the public if they rebranded, unless the SP wants it to be known so they can find their old clients again.

When I first began in the industry 3 years ago I was very naive and had some bad experiences, I changed my name as a result of that and completely changed my style. I was really scared of being found by the clients I had in the first 6 months of my career and I wasn't face out for a while. It didn't take long until a bunch of my old clients resurfaced even before I revealed my face.. So I'm assuming someone snitched. Thankfully rebranding sent a clear message, kinda like raising my rates, and eventually I didn't hear from them anymore, but like I said I'm face out and it's a completely different situations.

Most of the MP workers I've met changed work place frequently to avoid stagnation but also this type of harassment not just from clients but people from their personal lives.. Even if changing their name and work place doesn't remove the threat entirely it at least creates a delay and the stalker might get tired of looking for them eventually. Stalker behaviour is about power and control, it's a type of abuse and unfortunately once a perpetrator is tired they will move on to another victim..

Well personally i can see both side of the coin. I am happy sometimes peoples let us know when there is a name change. There was one recently from a provider i saw and i didn't figured it on my own. At least now i know who she is if i want to book her again (wich is possible i do since i had good times with her). But i can understand the stalker thing too and why sometimes they change name cause they want to avoid bad stuff.

I assume there is always direct messaging that is possible when peoples ask "where is xx nowadays, does she still work?"

A SP changing name and agency probably isn’t doing it because of a stalker. Let’s be honest the same men frequent the different agencies in the city…

Besides there’s a lot more protection when you work in an agency. They will simply prevent a man from seeing you and depending on the offence they’ll send him another woman or will ban him definitely…

Most indies have invested too much in their website, photos and branding to be changing name just to avoid bad reviews. It’s more common to do it to evade stalkerish behaviour…

If it’s an indy that has blurry selfies, no website, no social media presence and changes name or phone number frequently…we’re talking about more than twice a year then it’s most likely a scammer or someone trying to run from her bad reviews

how do you know that? I would definitely not say it is for the most part to hide past bad reviews. I would say there are a myriad of reasons for name changes, to hide past bad reviews would just be one of them.

yes I agree, i'm just saying to think twice before mindlessly outing someone. There will always be someone who figures out the name change, but maybe just dont post it gratuitously. If the mods could post a "sticky" recommendation in the thread to think twice before revealing name changes, i think that would be beneficial to the girls and the community at large.

Even if we keep in mind that there's a chance someone will reveal the truth, it's better not to say anything. One thing that worries me sometimes about this forum is that there seems to be a lack of concern for our privacy and our safety. I'm not naive enough to think that in this industry clients will not talk about us, but I kinda wish people kept the habit of trying not to do that. I often see posts here that describe situations without naming a provider and it's obviously an invitation for other members to ask the original poster who they are talking about. I might be wrong but I also think there are trolls who enjoy creating animosity between SP's and among posters in general, and I can tell there are things people lie about. Just stay vigilant and remember that sharing certain things could affect somebody very negatively. I'm often shocked about details in reviews that clearly compromise the provider's privacy.. Stay vigilant also when it comes to responding to certain comments and threads...

I learned my lesson a couple months ago when I (with a lot of naivete and stupidity) got involved in a situation that got blown out of proportion here. I know a lot of clients come here because they are also worried about their own safety, but they have to draw the line somewhere. As a SP in the past months I've been developing a strict code of conduct and giving myself clear rules for navigating certain complex dynamics and protecting myself and my colleagues. If you want to be seen as a respectful client maybe you should try to protect SP's as well and try not to cause problems between people. We don't like it when clients gossip to us about other SP's and we don't like witnessing certain situations that are compromising our colleague's mental health and security, financial and otherwise.
