I love that scene in Elf when he first arrives in NYC and notices a greasy spoon with a sign that says Worlds Best Coffee. Elf bursts in the door and proclaims loudly “you did it. Congratulations!”

For me, I love to go to the 2nd cup and a double expresó or coffee like they make in Europe and Brasil “Un Creme” I believe it is.

There is/was a Van Houtte on Metcalfe, near the Omni, which I always thought did a very good job with their cappucinos and the house special.

When you find a great coffee place, you should take a picture of the place and memorialize it. I don’t think Americans or Canadians can really do coffee.
Generally agree, but Canadians are a little less inept, in my view. You can actually find a decent cup of espresso in Montréal if you try hard enough. Maybe not up to, say, Italian standards but still drinkable. I like Café Myriade on Ste Catherine, a nice atmospheric spot. A bit of a challenge to find it as you need to enter a department store and navigate your way to its basement. I would recommend it.

Where I live a large McDonald's coffee is a full $1 less than Dunkin Donuts and just as good, and usually hotter. McDonald's is known for their scalding hot coffee which is always more welcome than lukewarm!!!

A couple of years back I got turned on the McDonald's coffee and have been a fan ever since. Surprisingly great tasting and so much cheaper than most other places.

I like the place and they're putting their heart in it, but they're just so slow serving those coffees!
It was fun this summer when you could just hang out at the street corner looking at the people and their dogs, less so now.
I was there this morning, they got so much better at their service, and just ask that they heat up the coffee as it gets cold pretty much fast :) small tip

Did you watch the series Yellowstone when the lawyer how is running for AG is shacking up with his campaign manager and she sends him out to get coffee? Ha! There’s line out the door and 100 ways to order coffee. The barista drips one into a cup. He’s used to pouring out of a pot and doesn’t have the patience and just takes two.
