Montreal snub?

Some readers wondered where their favourite corners of Canada were on the list, but Montreal, Quebec received far more mentions than other cities.

"Vancouver and Toronto don't surprise me, they're both great cities. Surprised Montreal didn't make it higher, and Calgary in the top 5? Give me a break, it's essentially a glorified mall parking lot." - Max W.

"I just don't get how Montreal doesn't top the list over Calgary. Or Quebec City, which is possibly Canada's most beautiful downtown. Calgary is ok, but outside of the Kensington area its pretty much suburbia and rings of newer suburbia." - Young Liberal from Toronto

"Interesting.... I guess Montreal is so out of this world awesome that it just didn't qualify for this ranking." - Andrew Robert Abela

Did not know the weightings of each factor, 20% or some have more weights.

I never think Calgary as a cultural city, may be oil and gas.

Will look for other Canadian cities ranking.

Look behind you.
I do not agree with it and I am from Calgary, to me Montreal is far more liveable. Housing is cheaper, jobs in Montreal are to be had ( not so for the rest of Quebec, not bad but not good ). As for things to do for singles or family young and old Montreal should beat Calgary easily. I first lived in Edmonton thought nice, moved to Calgary thought wow this is better, moved to Ottawa thought this really sucked and then went to Montreal, far exceeds any Canadian city I have been to. Yes I have spent time in Vancouver and Toronto but found it too busy and not as laid back as Montreal.
This is just my opinion.

I think Montreal would receive higher marks if the official language was English rather than Spanish.

Montreal is great when you know you won't be staying here for any extended period of time and you know your real home is located a civilized part of the world.

Those lists are always heavily biased and based on very narrow criteria that under-emphasizes negative traits.

Sure, Vancouver is highly livable - if you consider only the West End and Westside, and conveniently ignore the entire East end of the city. Yes, highly livable if you can afford to live in Coal Harbour and Yaletown and never have to venture east of Granville St. What a complete sack of shit.

I have seen many studies that have different cities around the world and in Canada listed as the most livable. I would not be comfortable in Oslo, Norway. as I do not speak the language. I have seen Victoria B.C. listed as the most livable but that is not home. The most livable place for me is Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Quebec has become more livable since we took Marois by the arm and leg and flung her out of government!!!!
