Where I belong.
Now that Rodriguez' ban has been, for the most part, upheld, two questions. 1. Are the Yankees the favorites to land Tanaka. and 2. who do the Yankees get to replace their flabby, big-mouth, drama queen third baseman?

1. It certainly raises Tanaka's price, but I don't know that it makes them the favorite. I think he'll go to whomever wants to give him a silly contract they'll regret later.

2. My guess is that Mitsou is the most available flabby, big-mouth, drama queen currently on the market. Whether or not she can play third base remains to be seen.

Please Mod... Do what you have to do...
By the way M8, don't you owe apology to Mitsou ?

Maybe you should read all the posts a moderator makes before making foolish comments that show your ignorance about a situation.

How come there is so called "rules" stricly enforced for some ppl here and not for this guy ?
:help:

If anyone wishes to continue to discuss a situation that has nothing to so with Baseball, start a thread for it in the lounge.

Now that Rodriguez' ban has been, for the most part, upheld, two questions.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/alex-rodriguez-suspended-from-baseball-for-2014-season/

NEW YORK - Alex Rodriguez's drug suspension was cut to 162 games from 211 by arbitrator Fredric Horowitz, a decision the New York Yankees third baseman vowed to fight in federal court.

Rodriguez also would be sidelined for any postseason games this year under the ruling announced Saturday, which costs him $25 million of the $86 million remaining on his contract.

"60 Minutes" will offer the first look at the details in the doping case against Yankee slugger Alex Rodriguez, including interviews with Major League Baseball's chief witness against him, Anthony Bosch - who says he injected Rodriguez with banned substances - as well as the league's COO Rob Manfred. Scott Pelley's report will be broadcast Sunday, Jan. 12 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Learn some of the first details here.

...

New York Daily News baseball columnist Bill Madden told CBS Radio News that Saturday's decision may be the end to Rodriguez's career.

"His physical situation being what it is, he's not going to be able to come back to baseball, and that's what baseball wanted - they wanted him out of the game," Madden said.

In a statement, MLB said: "While we believe the original 211-game suspension was appropriate, we respect the decision rendered by the panel and will focus on our continuing efforts on eliminating performance-enhancing substances from our game."

While the 38-year-old Rodriguez could fight the ruling in court, judges rarely overturn arbitrators' decisions.

USA Today baseball columnist Bob Nightengale told CBS Radio News that Rodriguez shouldn't bank on the decision being overturned.

"That's a real, real longshot," said Nightengale. "There's really no chance federal court's going to step in and bother with this."

All those Alex sympathizers on this board who always thought the poor rat was getting a raw deal will now have all the time and opportunity they need to buy the biggest cheater in sports a drink and give him a kiss. It's just too bad the other side of this ruling is the Yankees get off from paying him for a year. It would have been sweet justice if they had been forced to pay for the Great Cheater for as long as they signed him, like the Steinbrenner-Cashman legacy deserves.

Too bad the ruling gets rid of a dead body and a clubhouse parasite along with the great favor of a drastic payroll deduction. The Yankees should pay 100% for the ugly bride they chased after so greedily.

Cheers,

Merlot

Why people were talking about Seattle is beyond me, because Seattle sucks donkey balls and everyone except Robinson Cano and his agents seems to know this. They did not even make the Final 3.

Have you sized him for his uniform yet Beav? Lol. Funny, in this link from an hour ago NY wasn't even mentioned. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/01/masahiro-tanaka-rumors-sunday.html

SK this report comes from the Japanese media which has no allegiances with MLB teams.

There's a reason they're all called rumors. I'll wait and see how this one plays out.

There's a reason they're all called rumors.

That may be true, but I am not sure if a lot of fans are aware of the scope of the Japanese media that follows their players to the USA. I will never forget attending a Yankees spring training game in 2003 shortly after Hideki Matsui signed with the Yankees. I personally observed the Japanese media horde at Legends Field in Tampa. There are lots of eyes back in Japan that follow what their heroes do when they come to the USA. Hideki Matsui was a major superstar player in Japan and the Japanese fans identified very closely with him. I sense the same with Tanaka. Unlike Yu Darvish, Tanaka is 100% Japanese and actually performed better than Darvish did in Japan, even if scouts do not think his stuff is as good as Darvish's.

So this report comes from a leading Japanese media source and may be better quality rumor/innuendo than what is leaking in the USA. The Sporting News is also running with the report and reporting it as well.

The notion that the Mariners signing a big TV deal even puts them in the same universe as the Yankees revenue-wise is laughable. If the Mariners sign Tanaka it will have something to do with Iwakuma or the Japanese ownership.

MLB team revenues: http://www.businessinsider.com/team...eague-baseball-sports-chart-of-the-day-2013-3

You also fail to mention that the Yankees have their own Japanese pitcher, Hiroki Kuroda, who is a seasoned veteran who has been there and done that, and has had success for a number of years in MLB. He is the best possible mentor for Tanaka. Iwakuma cannot mentor like Kuroda, who has been successful in both leagues and in two huge markets on the west and east coasts.

Being Japanese and having Kuroda on your team is like have a second pitching coach for free. It is something for nothing.

After watching 60 Minutes Tonight I think A-Rod is done for 2014 and beyond. He will have incentive to agree to a Yankees buyout of his contract which might then enable him to play In Mexico, Japan, or maybe Venezuela.

The Yankees do not want him back and nobody else wants him. He is a untouchable now.
