Now that Russell Martin was signed by the Jays, i wonder how long it'll take for the games to be sold-out. Martin was interviewed on Dave Morissette's show last night (on TVA Sports) and i have a feeling that many Quebecers will become Jays fans if they aren't already. Martin spends the off-season at his home in the Mtl area.

By the way, the Expos' return to Mtl may actually become a reality after all. Several very wealthy local businessmen have been rumoured to have joined the group of investors wanting to bring MLB back to Mtl.

However, I was listening to Primetime Sports two weeks ago & the question of where to build the stadium was brought up. The area where Labatt's Stadium was supposed to be built (behind the Bell Centre) has now been developped with condos. The panel admitted that coming up with a downtown area to build a stadium would now be a difficult chore.

The biggest fear is that, if the games don't draw as well as last year, the nay-sayers will say that it was all a novelty and that Montreal is not a baseball city, which of course is not true.

Including Stephen Bronfman, Bell, the owner of Dollarama, and a guy who has made over $1B from on-line gambling.

There have been two areas cited, one of which make great sense, one of which doesn't. The Wellington basin, near Mel's Cinema, is one, but there really isn't much public transportation down there. The other is the current site of the Children's Hospital, which will be closing when the new hospital opens next year. The Children's Hospital is within easy walking distance of two Metro line, the Orange (Georges-Vanier) and Green (Atwater). The 720 is right there and the 15 and 20 are not far away.

Took a quick look at the admission website and looks like quite a few seats are still available. I was at both games last year and have my tickets for this year's. I think the initial interest may have been higher this year, as the seats I bought when they went on sale this past fall are not as good as the one's I had the first year.

Let's hope for a couple of 50,000+ crowds and good baseball!

    Cheers

Just bought three for Saturday's game. Section 424, row M. Five rows short of the roof. There are a lot of good singles left. Good thing I got my tickets for Friday night early. Looks like a packed house.
