    Breadman,

Very interesting. I like some of the pros of uniting with Canada, specifically increasing our raw natural resources and improving national security by eliminating the border. The biggest con is that whatever minimal savings I have on the exchange rate with the Canadian dollar would be lost, and the prices of escorts would skyrocket as American money and investment flowed more freely into the newly united land.

The website suggests that Quebec, at least economically, would benefit more from uniting with the USA than any other part of Canada.

    True.

In the resulting union the US would be the dominating force, culturally, politically, etc, right? Can you see many Canadians willingly accepting George Bush as their president?
Worse, wait'll southern baptists discover Montreal, Toronto, etc, and their openly advertised escort agencies. Reg is right. No fun left for us.

    V11,

It's common sense. The northern border of Canada is basically very sparsely populated frozen tundra with a few polar bears running around. Under the current USA/Canada border, we have large populations within an hour's drive of either side of the border, going back and forth. This traffic is continually regulated by border guards and now helicopter patrols, at a large cost to both countries, especially the US. On the US side, given the very lax Canadian immigration laws, we must leave it to a few border guards to make sure that no riff raff comes in to the USA through the Canadian border. Specifically people who have gotten into Canada due to liberal immigration laws, but would not have gotten directly in to the USA. By uniting North America we would not have to worry about a border in the middle and all of these problems.

    V11,

Those illegal immigrants are not creating security issues. We are talking about security issues and resources being used on national security. Have you ever even been to the USA? Those illegals are Mexicans and Caribbeans working as landscapers and domestic servants. They are all over the State where I live. They are not security problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plain and simple they are cheap labor, that is why they are here.

    Talking No Way Jose

openning Canada to U.S are you kidding? Here are some of the reason why we should not.

    1. The religious rights would abolish this fun hobby and there would be no providers left.
    2. The cost of providers from U.S vs. Canada would sky rocket.
    3. Canadian women would pick up bad habits from American women, and eventually all we would have is huge heffers. ( piggy Piggy)
    4. Dont get me wrong I love french-canadians ( especially the women) but having the Quebecois is like having france on board. They will disagree with everything just because they can.
5.The socialist welfare system will screw everything up. ( in the U.S we can barely handle what we have now, imagine lettting the governement handling your health care.)
    6. Canadian would lose their cool accent Eh?
    7. Can't imagine Canadian would see football as their new sports.

consider these points about the 'dollar'...

According to Jeffrey Frankel and Andrew Rose, international finance experts, ditching the loonie could make Canada's economy could grow by as much as 37%. The information was collected based on trade between nations that share a common currency.

In population, both Canada and Mexico combined do not even make up half the population of the US. In GDP, both Canada and Mexico combined to not even make up one fifth the GDP of the US.

By creating a European currency, the euro has now become the second most valuable currency in the financial world. Even Greece was able to adopt the euro, even though it had long touted having 'the oldest currency in the world', the drachma.

You'd still have your escorts, massage parlours and the like...but what if the only currency they took was the US dollar?

Imagine having to buy a $2 permit (as they do in some parts of Dallas) in order to buy alcohol in a bar.

Imagine going to a strip club where if they serve alcohol the panties stay on; they only come off if alcohol is not served (this was in Colorado some years ago).

Imagine polygamy a la Utah...trouble multiplied.

Imagine us turfing the Governor-General....now that's an idea ! What a darn waste of money for a figurehead.

Imagine an elected senate - no more patronage....now that's an idea !

This is exactly the law in Connecticut. Except you can BYOB to the fully nude SCs, you just have to pay for it (yep, you bring in your own booze, give it to the bartender, then pay for them to serve it to you).

In NJ, liquor license = no nudity whatsoever. All clubs that are even topless are BYO.

We will gladly trade you Montreal for, say, Detroit. And you can have all of the Bronx, too. In fact, we'll give you Campbell's Soup so long as you assume responsibility of Camden, NJ.

Arrow Canadian passports are black now

No more blue passports, they are all black now.

Though it's cool when travelling abroad to *boast* at Not Being American, but a Canadian. Yep, before leaving the airport back home, we had snow up to here (pointing to my huge midriff)

Americans travelling abroad should buy Tim Horton T-Shirts & coffee mugs, apparently Timmy's hoped across the border from Niagara into the states. Americans can now get Canadian coffee that's NOT diluted, just like our BEER.

What America needs to do instead is take over more Carribean islands like it did Puerto Rico. Billions of USD are being legally laundered with "overseas" accounts w/o paying taxes.
As a bonus, more great hispanic baseball players.
