I think it's mostly left up to the States and their Secretaries of State on the voting process and rules and procedure. It's like that on the selection of electors as well, it's an extremely different procedure in each State. It would make more sense if there were finite deadlines and uniform rules for all 50 States, but that's not the way it is and it's not the way it's ever been. It's in the 10th amendment to the US Constitution- the powers not reserved to the United States by the Constitution nor prohibited by it to the States, "are reserved to the States respectively, or the people." Look it up, it's the law and has been since 1787. This is not some new development. It's called federalism and if you don't understand it, your ass flunks first year constitutional law. I see Canadian posters here who simply do not grasp this fundamental tenet of the American system.

I mentioned this post to my father and he brought up a very good point. He noted that States should be able to do whatever they want as per the 10th amendment for State elections, but that there should be standard rules and regulations for federal elections that should be promulgated on the federal level. He believes the 10th amendment needs to be challenged or amended to reflect this.

Look behind you.
Whatever ultimately happens, it's clear that 4 years of Trump have seriously harmed his nation in terms of health, economy and safety.

Economy? If not for covid-19 Trump would have had a landslide victory on tbe economy alone, safety.... serious, people know Trump was one not to fuck with, Biden will do zero against any intrusions. Some of you are so delusional it is amazing... Give it two years and you will wish the Dems did not win this one.
You talk about Republican cheats but turn a blind eye to the guaranteed voter fraud in some states, and you know it happened. Coincidences like this do not happen.

If it were 269, it would be a tie, and the election would likely go to Trump after the clusterfuck of trying to figure out what a group of old men in wigs meant in the 1700s when they wrote the tie breaker rules. The concept of making sure the total was an off number instead of an even number somehow eluded them.

It's boxing rules, which means that a tie goes to the reigning champion and Trump "retains" his Presidential belt. However, when you lose on points you lose on points, so if it was 270-268, Biden wins. That one electoral vote makes all the difference.

Biden correctly noted in his speech that he received the most votes of any Presidential Candidate in the history of the United States and is the first one to go over 70,000.000.

Trump, as would be expected, is whining and crying like the little pussy he's always been. And of course the rightwing zanies buy into his paranoid fantasies like they always do. Trump tries to present himself as a tough guy and "wartime president", but he lost the war against Covid, he lost the trade war against China and now he's trembling like the spoiled little baby he is because he's afraid he might lose the voting war against Biden. No wonder Putin was able to make the whiny crybaby his personal hand puppet for four years. Putin is probably thrilled at the large number of uneducated, gullible fools who continue to believe Trump's BS even after four years of evidence that he's stupid, lazy, incompetent and dishonest. No wonder all the other world leaders laugh at him...and sadly by extension also at what the USA has become during his total failure of a presidency.

It's not over. It's looking like Biden leads and needs Arizona and Nevada, but his margin in Nevada is razor thin and he is losing in the other undecided battlegrounds. If Biden hangs on in Nevada he may win, but that lead is 8,000 votes with 14% of the votes not counted. That's a cunt hair thin lead. Biden could go down if he loses Nevada. Who the hell thought Nevada would decide this election. Not really a very important state in any respect.

Looking at the grid, the numbers and the maths, it's all coming down to Nevada. Whoever takes Nevada is going to take home the bacon. Biden wins Arizona and he gets to 264. But he needs 270. Nevada's bullshit, measly 6 electors gets him to 270. He loses Nevada and he stays at 264 and it's "close but no cigar", but this ain't a game of horseshoes.

Nevada, the Silver State, and how many of you guys, especially the Canadians, knew that the Capital City is Carson City without me telling you that? My guess is not a single Canadian in this thread knows that answer, or that it's named after Kit Carson or who Kit Carson was.

Right now Nevada looks more promising for Trump than Arizona. Trump MUST win one of these States otherwise Biden wins. Nevada, unlike Arizona, looks like a coin flip and it's been ignored up until now because with 6 electoral votes it has been viewed as insignificant. But look at the numbers right now and it's looking like it will decide this election!!!

Around the corner

He can thank Trump for that.
Unfortunately Trump not only got record numbers of Republicans to vote he dragged the Democrats out of the woodwork also or it seems at least to the post office.

Trump definitely gets the credit for the record turnout. He is hated by so many Americans that they wanted to ensure doing their best to try to remove the fascist from the White House. No American presidential candidate in history ever had as many people vote AGAINST him.

I find it ironic that the laid off casino workers support Biden. I’m thinking it would be logical that they would vote Trump to avoid future lockdowns. These lockdowns for a virus is what cost these workers their jobs. A virus that is fairly innocuous for those of us under 65 and certainly for the young Casio workers.

^^^^I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully we will know more details when they finally count up all the votes.

News flash - they just had another “batch” of 23000 ballots go through in Philadelphia and not one vote was for Trump.

These people need to be less obvious when they cheat. They should have worked a 100 or so votes fro Trump into that batch of ballots to make it look more legitimate.

I believe the Republican Party signed more new voters in the swing states than the democrats.
