If you have a family doctor, go see them.
If not, I suggest you see a professional that offers waxing services since they have all the safe methods and tools to manage that.
I don’t shave anymore… I just patiently groom until there are almost no hair. Since then, I never experienced other bumps.
It’s not perfectly shaved but ladies enjoy it as well. In fact, now I groom all body hair (but not as short as the pubic ones). With aging, it’s definitely a plus than let the growing « uncontrolled »

If its what i think it is, i had that once... Ouch it was not fun. I eventually cut the area with scissors... Lots of crap came out (yellow/brownish liquid).
That was the last time i shaved entirely. Now i just use my hair clipper with the "1" plastic thingy.
If you shave "down there" (like all respectable MERB members should) you should scrub down the area with either a luffa sponge or a exfoliating glove to reduce the chances of getting ingrown hair. It's not foolproof but it helps.
I've never had an ingrown hair since I've been doing this.
