The guy has a crazy schedule, like 5 big projects on his plate ....It will be a long way off. Denis still hasn't started shooting Dune III - and that's his next project.
Yeah I know. He can take as much time as he needs. I really want Dune Messiah to live up to expectations. It will be a long way off. Denis still hasn't started shooting Dune III - and that's his next project.
As for whether the film will be completely humorless as with the Craig films, we will see.
Not a fan of this news.It may be a long way off, but it's a done deal. Denis Villeneuve will direct the next Bond film:

I have to assume he will have some say in the choice of actor. With Amazon having the final word.

Villeneuve is gonna make the next Bond film an arthouse film and boring.
The name's Bond, Jacques Bond...FWIW, there's a fair amount of background about Québec in Fleming's novel The Spy Who Loved Me, but the social observations he made are badly dated and have little to do with the reality of the place--even when he made them 60+ years ago.
Villeneuve instantly becomes the second-most important Quebecer in the history of the Bond franchise, after original co-producer Harry Saltzman .... and arguably the second or third most important Canadian, give or take a Lois Maxwell [the original Miss Moneypenny].
Dune was beautiful for sure. I think he is a good director in general. That said, when it comes to Bond, the plot is the most important in my opinion. Truth is, no matter who was gonna direct, they would hire a good director. For such a franchise, no way it was gonna be a schlop. Im a lot more curious on the actor who is gonna be Bond personally. But of course congrat to Denis. It may be a long way off, but it's a done deal. Denis Villeneuve will direct the next Bond film:

Me too. Kevin Hart as James Bond, anyone? LolDune was beautiful for sure. I think he is a good director in general. That said, when it comes to Bond, the plot is the most important in my opinion. I'm a fan of Pattinson too, however unlikely a choice as he's the star of another big franchise ...With Denis at the helm, I'm sure they'll be able to attract some top talent for the role of Bond (if they choose to go that route).
Personally, I think a great choice would be Robert Pattinson.
He's sort of in that age range, he's British, he has the looks, and of course he's a great actor. He's also already supposed to be working with Villeneuve on Dune Messiah, once it starts filming.
We already know he can play the suave type, as he's done it as Bruce Wayne in The Batman franchise. Unfortunately, that's a hindrance too, as the two huge franchises might be too much for his plate and conflict with each other.
I only think he worked alright for Batman cause he was in the suit way more than he was "Bruce Wayne", wich is one of the first time this happen. Other Batman movies had a lot more Bruce than Bat. I guess as a "vengeful young Batman" it was totally fine and even some scenes he was maskless i liked that they kept the eye make up on, giving a sense of realism and greetyness and it suited him rather well. Thats one pet peeve i always had with other iteration, he remove the cowl and then boom the eye make up is gone. With Denis at the helm, I'm sure they'll be able to attract some top talent for the role of Bond (if they choose to go that route).

This is mostly true, although a few comments are in order. (1) this history was all before Amazon took over the franchise, and it is not clear whether they will pay attention to and respect it; and (2) although Sean Connery was mostly a bit player before he got cast in Dr. No, his career was on the upswing, and he was cast in the lead role of Draby O'Gill in the Walt Disney film about leprechauns called Darby O'Gill and the Little People. This film released a couple years before Dr. No was casted. He actually sings in this movie- no voice dubbing- and you can see from the below video that he could in fact sing. Although this role was a 180 degree turn from the roles he would eventually play, casting directors were put on notice and knew he was a talented up and coming actor by the time casting came for Dr. No:Before Bond:
• Connery: bit player at best
• Lazenby: had done one TV commercial
• Moore: well known to UK audiences as TV's The Saint
• Dalton: theatre actor mostly
• Brosnan: TV star
• Craig: mostly supporting roles in indie movies
