I just want a Canadian team to win a Stanley Cup in my lifetime.
Call me crazy or whatever but I really think Gary Bettman doesn't want a Canadian team to win the Cup. He's pulling strings behind the scenes and paying off players & referees to make sure they don't win.
I'm truly believe he paid off Conor McDavid to not try hard enough in the playoffs.

Its crazy thinking this team has made the final in the last 2 season! I mean, yeah, we all agreed at the time that, their weakness was in front of the net but, to that extend? Damn they are worst than the Habs goalies.

I heard the same thing but didn’t know of it was true or not.
I was also told that this was one of the reasons why the Avs let him go. Seems like he’s a serial ‘hitting from behind’ offender.
Look at this incredible play by Kyle Palmieri. Injured with a torn ACL (which will shelve him for 6-8 months), and hobbling off the ice, he still has his head in the game: he steals a puck and assists on a goal on his way to the lockerroom:

An official for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Olympics said "there is no Plan B" if the main ice hockey arena, which is still under construction, is not ready for the Winter Games.
Regardless of who controls it, they need to finish the arena or there will be no hockey, at least not for the Olympians.
Worst case they will move the hockey tournament in another city, I mean, they are near the Alps, I’m sure there is a few arenas not too far.

The olympic arena situation really sucks. I mean, it’s been so long since we had a chance to see the best players in this tournament.

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly warned that the league’s participation is not completely guaranteed given the problems with the hockey rink for the Milkan-Cortina Games continue to cause.

So if the NHL/NHLPA pull out, will amateur teams be sent, or is it way too late in the game for that?
At this moment in time anything’s on the table. As of this morning the arena where hockey competitions are scheduled to be held at not only has an ice surface that is too small by 3-4 feet which is the least of its problems. The biggest problem is that the arena is still far from being completed & with the games only 2 months away many people in-the-know who’ve personally seen the construction site have stated that there’s no way it will be completed in time. As of now the entire site is a full-blown construction site!
Now authorities have been looking at a plan B which would involve using a nearby soccer stadium where they’d build an outdoor skating! This would be ridiculous! Ice quality would be poor considering environmental factors & the fact you’d have to play a minimum of two games per day on that surface alone. As we’ve seen in the past just one game alone damages the ice considerably! Several companies including one in Quebec who are experts in creating outdoor ice hockey rinks have been approached & told to be ready in case there services may be required. This scenario would be last resort especially considering the fact its terrible optics for fans watching the game on tv plus i doubt many fans would want to pay to go watch a hockey game in a vast hockey stadium where they’d barely be able to see anything without binoculars!
Another problem is that the current NHL schedule has way too many games being played right now in order to be able to pause the season for 3 weeks for the Olympics. There are way too many injuries happening in the league right now because the players are getting fatigued from playing so many games in so little time. So if the NHL decides to cancel going to the Olympics you’d have a 3 weeks break with no hockey! By the way i doubt we’d see other pro leagues replacing NHL pros because these players are already playing in their respective leagues with no Olympic break plus you wouldn’t have enough time to prepare a team for such a competition. What i’m hearing is that if the NHL & the European leagues pull out the entire ice hockey competition will be canceled women. It’s not only the NHL that is upset with what’s going on. European leagues are as upset as the NHl is!
Prediction: The hockey competition will be cancelled. This will likely happen next month. It’ll be a very long NHL break!
