If you don’t know the SP he is talking about or were not privy to what happened then why is it that you don’t believe the Op, and insist on defending a person you don’t know or have no idea what happened.
Can you tell me where did I defend the SP in this case? I'm still puzzled.

I'm repeating myself, I just asked if rescheduling has been discussed.

You start off by saying well she payed back half of it as if that is already a huge plus for her.
Reschedule ? why are you even asking that question.
The OP said he wanted his money back so obviously they either discussed a reschedule which wasn’t feasible or he wasn’t interested in a reschedule. Either way obviously he wanted his money back for a transaction that wasn’t honoured.
Booking an SP doesn’t come with she can hold onto your money until you can agree on a reschedule if she cancels and she gets to keep it if you don’t reschedule to her liking.

Agreed. Not sure what the point of vagueposting about a provider that screwed you over without naming them? Put it in their review thread. If it's a one-off, and everyone else has had flawless experiences them, then it probably won't affect her much and it might spurn action on her part to pay you back. If it's an on-going thing, and others have faced a similar situation with this provider, then you'll be saving other people from the same fate.

Reviews come in all shapes and sizes, even for
He posted about it back in June…we’re in August, I think it would be fair for him to post a review about it lol.

Maybe it’s time for a review? I’m surprised you got any money back.
An
It's the most respectful way to do it. I'm a SP with chronic illnesses and sadly, I have to cancel a couple of times. But, I ALWAYS put the deposits in a specific bank account before the appointment so it stays there if I have to cancel and give it back. Like you said, simple principle. My policy is that if I'm the one being canceled on, I keep the money and if I'm the one who is canceling, they have it back as soon as they see the canceling message.
I'm someone who is really transparent so I take the time to explain what's happening and how my situation impacts me. Thankfully, everyone has been understanding and comprehensive yet. They get their money back instantly and they appreciate my transparency so they tend to book again, which I deeply apprecia

And you are a top tier person for this, honestly.

And I hope things are well with you, despite your situation.

Well if she agreed to come in the first place. There is no reason she would not want to come after her situation got solved.

Then you are just assuming that all the cancellations are not legit.

Well another wild assumption but well, we are not privy to the story so we can just randomly make lot of assumptions.

I don't really see the relationship between being a white knight and my story here ...

Well that's fine, that's your preference. I would be more interested to know your POV if OP story gets a good resolution and if you'll still be able to support your preference opportunistically.
There is no good resolution at this point. A good resolution would be me getting the money back immediately or at least by the agreed date. Instead of me having to ask back for something that is mine after receiving no service. This is literally theft. I dont care how it is twisted or reworded.

The reason why I havent posted on her thread is because I am still trying to be lenient/graceful in this situation, despite me probably being a massive idiot for that. It's always been an personal issue for me where I give people more grace than they clearly deserve.

I get a fair number of people writing to me and asking me questions about this, that and the other thing. I'm pretty laid back generally and will usually answer questions even if the asker is a lurker or has no or little posting history or whatever. I may not give as complete an answer as I might do in some back channel conversation but I will try to provide either useful information or guidance of some kind if I can, no matter who's asking. I usually feel that it's the job of people on this board to help and support others, as it is on other board, so anything reasonable, etc.,etc. etc. Having said that, if you're a 15 year member of this board, that I've never interacted with before, with just a handful of posts, and you write to me "I want you to tell me A,B and C. thanks" as the entirety of your message, without any kind of introduction, social niceties or anything that could be construed by anyone as being either courteous or respectful of a stranger from whom you wish to obtain help and information, then you can absolutely fuck right off.

It's the only time it's ever bitten me in the ass. Although to be fair, the two other times i have done a deposit, we met so there was no issue obviously. Even now I have a duo meeting I am trying to set up and one of the SPs is asking for a deposit, which I am still willing to pay. I'm not afraid of deposits but clearly some people have no principle in how they operate. Goddess Maple is an example to many in how to have ethics

If you continue to pay deposits most people will be fine but some people will screw you. That's how it works, unless you limit your interactions to a very select group of people. You are guaranteed to lose deposits again in the future if you pay them to whoever asks for them. Maybe 90% of the people you interact with will be fine, but you are still going to lose money at some point. You either just shrug your shoulders and decide that that's the cost of doing business, in which case you should stop worrying about it entirely and be philosophical when it happens, or simply stop paying deposits. Whichever decision you make will be the best one for you. There isn't a wide consensus here on which way is the best way to go and it comes up frequently.

Yeah I would agree with you. Just like trading stocks or other forms of investing, I dont put up money I cant afford to lose.

But to clarify I dont see any and any SP who require a deposit. I do extensive research and only choose from those I see with strong online presence, a reputation and I have a high chance of seeing as well. This is not infallible of course, as can be clearly seen here, but this is the 1st time this has happened to me and it's because I violated my own rule as a DMTY does not give a high chance of seeing the SP since it is still up to her to show up versus me showing up where I am in control of that situation.

Also since two persons have now Dm'ed me, let me say that I am aware I am being too gracious in this situation. I have even said so myself in this thread. And as I have also said, I am no White Knight. I have given her until the end of this week. If not, I will simply leave a bad review with the myriad of screenshots and full, unadultered details about what happened and move on.

Same. Lately I was asked to give more juicy details. And almost ended being the one not sharing information lol

I feel like some people just want you to show and tell and jerk off your story telling.

Well such transparency is fine as it manages expectations and will avoid potential frustration!

It's cool that you're trying to be graceful, but you're talking about it here and I'm sure a bunch of guys messaged you to ask who it is and gossip.. but I do understand that you needed advice on this situation or just to vent

No, he wasn't really asking for juicy details. It was phrased pretty much just as I framed it above: "give me information. thanks" , as if it was a demand that he was entitled to, rather than a polite request. No preamble, not even a "hello", just "gimme".

And there it is. It all works perfectly, most of the time, until it doesn't. You do the best you can with the information you have, but the system will break down again at some point. There's no real need to rationalize it, just as long as you recognize that that's what it will be like in the future too, and plan accordingly with whatever (if any) mitigating actions you take.
