It's funny how how quickly they shutdown and effectively admitted guilt despite not actually being convicted of any crime whereas there are large multinationals that have killed and poisoned thousands yet simply release a press release to weather the storm. Anthrompic CEO admitted they were a part of the kill chain that targeted the Iranian school girls and nothing happened. They were proud. Meta was accused of actively addicting children with internal discussions admitting so yet they only settled without Meta admitting liability or wrongdoing. Ford did a cost benefit analysis with their exploding Pintos calculating the cost of the recalls vs civil lawsuits. Swiss banks like UBS and Credit Suisse were criminally convicted of conspiring to help customers evade taxes, currency manipulation and even money laundering of Latin American drug cartels, yet they only paid fines with only lower level employees jailed.

Euphoria could have easily accused CBC of manipulation and threatened defamation. Many agencies typically do not actively promote sex work, but instead promote companionship and escorting of private contractors. What a private contractor does with the client is their own business. Whether they wanted to hire a worker to take them to a high school reunion, chat the entire appointment or engage in sexual activity was up to the two consenting parties.
As a company if you're well-established in "respectable" society or have billions of $ and powerful contacts, sadly you are free to partake in as much murder/rape/stealing and pillaging as you like. There is no mechanism to hold them accountable.

Local escort agencies or MPs are far less powerful and therefore a different story.

Traduction AI : Often the show “Tout le monde en parle” invites guests who don’t share the same point of view. It would be difficult for James to accept such an invitation, but an ex-escort, for example, could show both sides of the coin. If Clémentine is there, maybe she can explain her unbelievable story with the neighbor. Anyway, we’re going to look like the bad guys again!

Whether they wanted to hire a worker to take them to a high school reunion to show off, chat the entire appointment or engage in sexual activity was up to the two consenting parties. Strippers regularly get hired to do bachelor/bachlorette parties as well as infamous Duke lacrosse frat party that turned out to be a hoax where the worker accused their clients of rape.
If agencies truly promoted companionship and the idea of paying a worker for her time, people here would be very mad and would not use them lol of course for legal reasons they aren't going to write ''hey dude you can choose between the different prostitutes we have, they all offer 2 shots, dfk, bbbj and daty. you can also get anal sex and cum in their mouth as an extra if they are cool with it'' on their website...

Also you're comparing apples and oranges.. an agency is doing something illegal to begin with, but usually those big companies that commit crimes and horrors are unfortunately legit companies..

The problem is the investigation, by revealing the location of both incalls, put the ladies at risk. (IMO) Imagine if the SW had to deal with concern neighbours every time they begins theirs shifts or stalker and street gang members that start lurking around the place. The risk was already presents but now its amplified. The journalist checkmate James on that issue. So, for me, its more about protecting the SW than admission of guilt. But that beeing said, James full name was revealed and he was engaged in illegal activities. So its also about self -protection. Probably need all of his times to destroys the paper trail as much as he can and consult with his lawers. And getting new locations to start again...

While I dont know anything more than the next guy, I bet the name "Euphoria" holds less value than the client list and the girls on staff. If they come back as Orchid Escorts, and everyone on merb knows the former name, they probably start fresh without the baggage of the news spotlight.

The prevalence of strippers you see getting hired for bachelorette and bachelor parties you see in movies, tv and on SNL isn't invented and those agencies are not shutdown even in tough jurisdiction like in the US. They would have to shut down party clowns, magicians, and Disney princesses, too. But yes, in call agencies shift the burden of proof closer to it being an illegal business to start with. But the other owners of Euphoria could have claimed that the actions of James did not represent the company and that they are doing everything to limit worker abuse. I've visited an Amazon distribution center and their turnover is 8-10 months of their entire workforce simply because they treat their workers pretty much like inhuman robots with a large number of physical injuries often permanent.

The funny logic in Japan is that the agencies also do not promote sex work, but instead companionship with their workers "falling in love" with the client when they meet and then falling out of love when the session ends.

I don't really know what point you are trying to make here. Paying a stripper isn't illegal in Canada btw
We're talking about agencies specifically, not all businesses in the world. Obviously if we are going to talk about the horrors of hyper capitalism certain things deserve to be mentioned more than escort agencies. That doesn't mean everything that's going on at agencies is perfect and that their model can't be criticized.

I was never coerced into working this job. No one has ever forced me to become an escort however I was heavily influenced.

No one approached me to say “hey Lena, you should really become an escort it’s fun”

But I saw other girls online buying nice things, travelling to other cities, having nice condos. I asked them where they worked to be able to afford all that and they told me they were escorts. It could have stopped there. If an acquaintance asked me how I’m able to fund my life I would say the truth and nothing more.

Instead, one sent me money to go meet her and her then pimp. He quickly took photos of me and posted ads.

When I realized it wasn’t safe, I left. Met a woman who I believe is still managing ads on here for other women. She did the same, quickly took photos and posted the ads.

Then again after a bad experience, I left. Briefly joined an agency. Had a few bad experiences and left to become independent.

I don’t think clients visiting agencies are all bad, I just think what didn’t work for me was not being able to filter them myself.

Only I know my level of tolerance and what I’m comfortable with. Letting other people decide who I meet was the mistake for me. Can’t speak for others.

I don’t think it’s normal to not know who’s going to be on the other side of the door

I highly doubt that all her clients were horrible sadists, but that doesn't mean she didn't experience the job as traumatic. It's pretty well known that agency clients are often demanding physically. For a 19 year old, just that in itself could be upsetting, or being asked to do certain things.. If clients at a certain agency have expectations when it comes to the type of service they will receive, they definitely will be asking for that service once they are in front of the SP. Don't interpret what I said as ''these clients are bad''.. but that's the standard that is set by the agencies and the expectations clients have when it comes to the service. You can see it in reviews too.

Oh I agree - just I suspect there is an underlying kind of ptsd with Clementine (but I don't know her, so I can't say for sure obviously) that has layered the whole experience as negative from top to bottom for her. However, the media loves a black and white story, and they get it with her.

In a similar fashion as LC, here's my story. No one forced me to become an escort, but I've lived with a very low income my whole adult life. I don't want to get into why it's been difficult for me to succeed financially, a number of things happened, and I ended up in a very bad situation. I started working for a massage parlor because I knew people who got out of poverty by doing sex work, they were able to afford nice things and to finally breathe.

Initially, I just wanted to do happy endings but I realized quickly that this wasn't going to be realistic. I also didn't want to offer a GFE service for a few reasons, including health concerns, but once I became independent it was something that became imposed because otherwise I wouldn't get clients. Nobody encouraged me to do sex work, in fact many people warned me against it. But I was fucking fed up with being poor and constantly worrying about being able to afford food, never knowing what the future would be like.

I didn't enter this industry because I thought ''great it's going to be fun doing a bunch of acronyms with random men and be rated online by them''. Does this mean I think clients who book me are bad? No. I am extremely grateful for the good clients I have, because I am able to live comfortably now. There are many things I've appreciated about my journey, this includes moments when I work at MPs. Going back to work at a parlor made me wonder if I should be so critical of agencies because I understand not wanting the heavy work load associated with being an indy.. but I don't think that working at an agency would be beneficial for me, for many reasons that were brought up in this thread.

Btw I'm not writing this because I want people to feel bad for me, I know people who started doing sex work as teenagers and I was fully an adult when I began. I have had friends who were trafficked and continued doing sex work after they escaped their pimp.. I know some women are one client away from not being able to pay their rent. This is not my case. I've been able to succeed pretty well, I get to travel, take care of myself, choose my clients, decide on a work place that is suitable for me, I can tour, etc. I am lucky that I have a good education, and I have a lot of privileges in this industry. Those privileges are why I think it's important to talk about our side of the story, in nuanced ways.

I enjoy many aspects of this work, even if there are aspects I don't like.

I see where you're coming from, but I also understand where she is coming from, too. I remember when I was 18-19 years old. I would never been able to get through even a day at an escort agency without freaking out. Sometimes it's important to put yourself at other people's place. I think it's possible that some people have an idea of what being an escort is like, and once they start working they end up realizing that this isn't what they signed up for. They see other women who are okay doing it, and they think they should just keep going and they might understand what the appeal is. That's kinda what she says in another interview too.

I remember one of the parlors I worked at.. There were a few very young girls who started working there at some point. I don't want to blame the boss or the secretaries but I don't know that the job was explained to them very well. I remember one of them told me she wasn't expecting having to do full service, and she quit after a few months because she was really uncomfortable

I saw the investigation. They mix 2 things. Victims of sex trade and these girls who are adults and decide to go in that industry. At some point you gotta take accountability for the poor choices you make. If I jump from airplane skydiving there is always the risk of dying squashed like a bug. Same goes there if I go there and get naked with a man I don't know, there is always the risk of not pleasant things happening. It can't always be good.

No one is coercing these girls to go day after day, they do have the choice to stop and go work at mcdonalds. In essence, the investigation is just saying that adult women are manipulated into doing this, the same way you can manipulate a kid, which is just absurd to me.
No sorry. The nature of this business means that when it’s busted it’s always the clients who are painted as evil manipulators.

God forbid a man who is unlucky with women would take steps to be able to live a decent sexual life, paying for it automatically puts you right above pedophiles in the eyes of society.

I would imagine this bad news is good news for others, namely other agencies or independents. I would anticipate a corresponding shift, and likely an increase, in demand

Maybe 10-20% ?

Yes, I can imagine her situation being much like that.

I recall an interview with her where she was asked directly if literally every client she saw mistreated her - and she said yes. Logically, we can suspect that to be an exaggeration (even though it's true for her), but the result of statements like that made out loud without any other context is that it really paints a picture for the public that the only people who see SP's are some sort of deviants who have no respect for women. It makes the industry as a whole seem decrepid. Oddly, it actually hurts the women more, as I think the general reaction is - "well this should be outlawed, full stop". (Because of course abuse should be punished).

Ultimately I wouldn't want to silenced obviously as her voice is important - but so far there's been nothing to provide any nuance to all this.
