Merci mesdemoiselles:)

I used to own two units at Lowney 567, and at the general assemblies, there was always a discussion about prostitution in the building. The general consensus was that co-owners were allowed to rent out their units to people claiming to use them as residences PERIOD. As long as there was no registered business operating out of the units, there wasn't much the syndicate could do.This is based on code civil. Plus lots of people on the same floor ignored that prostitution was being held because of the good sound proofing.

The security guard is actually employed by the syndicate and isn't really a security guard in the sense of what the Bureau de la sécurité privée regulates. He's more of a building attendant, so he can't just kick people out or monitor cameras for security purposes. His job is basically to make sure everything is running smoothly in the building and call the police if something happens.

He was there when Uncle Sam came in and smashed the intercoms and glass, and that was also discussed at the general assembly. Apparently, there was a turf war between two escort agencies, but the position was that there wasn't much the syndicate could do about it and people (me included) started selling the units because of a fear of fire or something worse.

From what we were told, the condo owners themselves aren't involved in the actual operations. They were just investors who wanted to rent out their units and had paid good money for them.
Thank you for illustrating why it is rarely a good idea to live in a unit in a condo building where the majority of units are held by investors.

They just make us distrust them at this point. They claim that they want us to be able to report it when a client is violent or an employer is exploitative but nobody actually wants to deal with the police.. however I think this is a big media campaign made to scare people more than anything else. There were 50 investigators now there are 65.. ok that's a significant increase but it's still not huge. The priority is still minors.

There's also a reason why most incalls are in certain buildings where most of the units are actually Airbnb's. They aren't places where people can actually live in my opinion. So that makes me a little bit less worried about "neighbors complaining"..

Thanks for pointing this out and for giving your perspective as an owner of 2 of these units.

It's bad, Euphoria, James, Merb, the vampire doc is absolutely cooked. Forever is directly mentioned as XO follow up. And apparently agencies are worse than street.

Also very interesting, they say that indies are fine for them (around 8m). So it's pretty clear, agencies are finished, they will tolerate only indies now.

I don't think most of us increase our rates because we get less traffic, in fact it can be the other way around. I know providers who decreased their rates because they were nervous about losing clients, or things weren't as good. Personally I try to offer different types of services in order to get a variety of clients. From what I hear and from personal experience, increasing rates means wanting to be more selective about clients. Some providers who have very high rates simply have other jobs and only want a handful of sessions every month.

I used to have below average rates for an indy, but it started to feel exhausting to offer very very intimate services for this rate on top of trying to offer a premium & very personalized experience to clients, having to do all the admin work, physically going to my incall and managing it, etc. We all have different reasons for choosing certain rates. Also, while I think having lower rates can attract a lot of different types of clients, including really good ones, I do think it sometimes brings the type of person who see a LOT of sex workers and are extremely critical and demanding.

For a while my client base included men who frequently use agencies and parlors, this is why I think I have a bit of insight into what some girls who work for agencies might be experiencing. While I really liked some of them, many were not my preferred type of client..

Are you saying that most indies want less traffic and hence have increased your rates? If so then I will have to disagree with that.
You also claim that many with very high rates have other jobs. That may be true for some but wouldn't they be outliers in the graph.

Fact remains that indies have higher rates than agencies.
Fact remains that indies have less traffic than agency girls.
So in order to make up, rates need to be high, sure ad/mgt expenses for indies need to be made up somewhere.
And more the difference with agencies, less the traffic.

Finally, you mention that many of your clients who use agencies aren't your preferred type so am curious if you know for sure that most of your current clients do not use agencies on a regular basis. As the other user mentioned, people might splurge on steak every once in a while and revert to regular food for most meals.

And glad that we can discuss these points as mature adults instead of making these an argument. Always nice to hear different perspectives, we keep evolving with new info.

I am pretty sure that with enough good will, co-owners would have been able to demonstrate–with surveillance video and/or with intercom logs–that, with the amount of coming and going, the units were not used as residences, hence in violation of the co-ownership agreement. There is also likely a clause that forbids using the condo to conduct criminal activities, albeit this could be harder to prove. The real reason nothing happened, as you allude to, is that the owners of the units were not actually feeling the nuisance, up to a point, because they don`t live there!

Honestly not everyone in this industry has the same financial goals. I met some women who were just taking a few clients every month, and some who see 10+ a week. You are correct if you want 15 clients a week charging 600$+ isn't a good choice. But you're also not understanding that a lot of clients who see indies want longer sessions. If I have a client book me for 24h that's as if I worked for an entire week.

There is an industry standard for indy rates too. Currently most indies I know in Montreal charge between 300 and 500.. many of us can't afford raising our rates. And yes actually many indies with rates 500+ I've met had another job. I have met women at massage parlours who also had another job. That isn't my case..

About clients who use agencies not being my preferred type I don't think you understand what I meant by this. I don't mean that I dislike clients who can't afford booking indies often. What I often don't like is the type of client that "collects experiences" and comes across as a jaded and entitled hobbyist. It's not the fact that they used agencies that's the problem.
